I've been away so I apologize if this has been talked about, but it looks like the story broke 10 minutes ago.

For those who wanted Garland and for those who didn't want him, he is now a Dodger.

Dodgers To Sign Jon Garland

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [November 26, 2010 at 2:30pm CST]

The Dodgers agreed to sign Jon Garland, according to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times (on Twitter). The 31-year-old will be the fifth starter in a Dodgers rotation that already includes Clayton Kershaw, Chad Billingsley, Ted Lilly and Hiroki Kuroda. Last year, Garland pitched to a 3.47 ERA with 6.1 K/9 and 3.9 BB/9 in exactly 200 innings for the Padres.

The deal is for one year with an option for 2012 that vests after a significant number of innings, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (on Twitter). Garland has logged at least 190 innings every year since 2002, so his chances of reaching the innings threshold seem good.
