Ubaldo Jimenez: Jimenez ended May with an 8.28 ERA and has allowed six runs in each of the last three starts though three were unearned in the last one, but he could not even get out of the second inning. As a matter of fact, Jimenez has allowed six runs four times in six May starts and the Orioles have been blown out in each of his last three starts to double digit run totals for the opponent. It has been downright awful and on top of that, Jimenez has not fared well against Boston for his career in 12 starts either. Yikes, just yikes.

Rick Porcello: Porcello has been in a bit of a funk lately himself having allowed 10 runs in his last 17.1 IP including his only two starts this season where he did not go six innings. He had a 4.65 ERA in May, but did pitch into the seventh again in his last start allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk. He gave up only three home runs in the month. He has had a rough time since coming to Boston, but he did throw 204.2 innings in 2014 for the Tigers to a 3.43 (1.23) and was a 4 WAR player that year and Porcello is looking a lot like that guy so far this season. He has not pitched all that well on the road this season, though. He has also never pitched well against the Orioles or at Camden Yards, so we'll see if he can overcome those things in this start.

This one was a shootout with 15 runs scored in the first three innings. Wright and Kelly were equally terrible and with the introduction of the bullpens, the runs just kept on piling up on both sides. The Orioles got a few more and came out on top in this one 13-9. The Orioles will have the chance for a split, but with Jimenez on the mound, I don't have a whole lot of confidence in that outcome being realistic. Hey, anything can happen though.

The only thing I need to see is that Jimenez is pitching here. Not good, not at all. Porcello has not had success against the Orioles, but he is looking like the guy that pitched for Detroit in 2014, so that's not good either.

In the division, the Orioles are back within two games of Boston, but will not be able to capture the lead even with a win tomorrow. Toronto shut out the Yankees tonight for their third straight win as they close to within four games of Boston and seem poised to make it a three horse race in the East for the first time all season. In the Central, the White Sox win in 13 against the Mets and have won two in a row while KC wins their sixth in a row with another win over the free-falling Rays. All teams in the Central won today except the Twins. In the West, Seattle is losing to the Padres 7-3 in the second inning and will surrender the division lead to the Rangers by that half game again if they cannot come back to win. Oakland has won five in a row 6.5 back and Houston four in a row sitting seven back as are the Angels who have cooled off.

And just for information purposes....Gallardo gives up 2 runs, 4 hits, 1 walk and 26 pitches tonight in the first inning against Potomac single A. Great!

Wasn't it like a week ago that the O's pitchers had given up the fewest HR in the league?
