  1. Isn't that the sad truth in numbers. The rich get richer, no matter how poor a job they do. Probably why they are in no hurry to sell. Why sell when it keeps appreciating?
  2. Baumler may very well be because of the way this organization handles their pitchers (like Fabergé Eggs). I hope it's because of them and not because he either tweaked something or he's not ready yet. As for Willems, it was my own fault for ranking him so high based off the EVs and his signing bonus. I stand by the fact that he's had an entire offseason and spring training to work on things and at 19-years old, real prospects are typically ready for Delmarva. Again, doesn't mean I'm giving up on him, just making him earn his way onto the prospects scene now. Similar to Baumler. No need to be a top 2o prospect yet when he hasn't thrown a professional pitch and wasn't able to start the year with a full season club 17 month after surgery.
  3. Notes: Think of these rankings like an unofficial prospect rankings that will be adjusted throughout the year. To be eligible for the rankings, a player must still be considered a rookie by MLB standards and assigned to a minor league team. Players placed on injured lists are eligible once they have played in 2022. Rankings will be updated every Monday. Rankings will be expanded to 40 when FCL and DSL seasons open up. 4. Anyone heard what happened to Reed Trimble? He was awful with Delmarva last year but should have been back in the outfield there.
  5. Because special players do special things early. I've been doing this a long time. Anytime a guy who was given a lot of money was "held back" for more seasoning it typical means they were more raw than thought of and rarely ends up making the majors. In fact, he can't remember one. Now does that mean Willem is a bust or won't make it, no, but it does drop his prospect status for me (which was admittedly too high based off the contract they gave him). As for Baumler, if he's healthy enough to pitch in games (he did this spring) he's healthy enough to break camp. Now the Orioles are absolutely the most risk adverse team in baseball when it comes to pitching prospects so this really could just be to build up his innings, but he's had an entire spring training in should be well into the pitching against competition phase at 17 months. If he moves up and pitches well in Delmarva he gets a bump back up, but for me, either he's a slow healer, wasn't as good as thought, he tweaked something this spring and the CIA-like Orioles are not saying anything anything, or he's not as good as thought because at his age he should certainly be pitching to Sally League hitters. Either way he can easily be back up with good performance.
  6. 43 stolen bases and only 4 caught stealing in his career. That's actually remarkable, but unfortunately, he just couldn't hit.
  7. Nah, he got some love by some of the fans, but he was just a little too stiff and never really brought anything consistent or special to the field. He didn't have enough game power to overcome his mediocre-less than mediocre hit and field tool. Escarra had that nice year in Aberdeen but never really was able to hit consistently above there. You have to have a special stick to be a first baseman.
  8. 4/5 Was hit on the hand with a pitch and taken out of the game "as a precaution." No further information available.
  9. He was probably one of the weakest hitters i've seen professionally. He really had no pop whatsoever and wasn't very good defensively anywhere.
  10. That was actually pretty classy of the Orioles. I had a feeling when I saw the names in that last game those guys were probably going to get released. I liked watching Yahn play. Such a scrappy little player that will play anywhere and do anything to help the team. He was a great org kinda guy to have around. No surprises elsewhere.
  11. I don't think for a second that the Orioles do anything with fans in mind. Probably some computer program spit out the dates in which Rodriguez' most likely innings would be maximized and Friday popped out. I guess in the end it doesn't matter but as a fan it has become increasingly obvious that the Orioles regime under Elias does not care about the fans experience at any level. How much you wanna guess their affiliates other than Norfolk will even have a center field camera?
  12. Just frustrated. The Tides season is starting tonight no Rodriguez. Hall and Baumler stay in extended. Rom in AA. They are just very frustrating in how they want to SLOWLY develop their pitching. I would absolutely hate to be drafted by the Orioles if I were a pitcher. You know you will barely pitch, have strict pitch limits, and move very slowly through the system. As a fan it sucks because I want to see these guys in Baltimore or hell, at least on opening night of their affiliates, but alas the Orioles could give two hoots about whether their fans are getting excited or not.
  13. Whatever the lowest amount of innings that you possibly think would be his limit and then minus 10 innings with this regimes extreme view on usage.
  14. It's almost like someone said all along that the Orioles liked him as a starter and would try him there this year. Weird.
  15. The Orioles have no understanding about generating excitement from their fans. Hell, after 22 years, they've cut me off from having credentials so they really could less about this site or the diehards that make it up.
  16. They could have, but this is the Orioles. They over plan every single detail with their pitchers and have yet to prove it makes them better or keeps them healthier.
  17. The Orioles know how to get their fans excitement going on opening day of their minor league season. The probably want to keep Rodriguez back in extended to get some miracle spring training regimen instead of pitching him again competition. This organization really could care less about their fans.
  18. He got a late start because he was on the 40-man so he'll stay in extended which makes sense for him. Anyone who started in minor league spring training and is not ready I don't buy.
  19. Disappointe to see Rom start off at Bowie. Thought he showed enough late in the year to start the year in AAA. But this is the Orioles and they seem to slow play all of the top prospects early in the year. Same with Cowser. There is no reason he's not on the Rutschman plan. Now maybe he'll be on the Stowers plan and end up with a few AAA by the end of the year, but he probably should have had half his PAs in AA and half in AAA this year.
  20. They have to cut this crap out and get guys on the damn mound. The Orioles codify their pitchers like no other organization. He can pitch in relief and throw a few innings here and there and learn how to get guys out. As for Willems, sure, he's a project, but kids who get a million dollars should be ready for Delmarva at 19 or you have to hope they are late bloomers. Either way, he's off my personal top 30 list for now.
  21. Ok, perhaps. But he's had a long time to build up innings. He could easily be in a strict pitch count or innings limit at Delmarva and pitch against age appropriate talent. I honestly don't know whether it's just Blood's extraordinary reluctance to pitch his top pitching prospects against age appropriate talent, he's got something that put him back, or that Baumler may not be as good as we'd hope. Remember, he was pitching in the first intrasquad game. There is no reason if he was healthy that he should not have broken camp with Delmarva. Most likely he either tweaked something that put him behind or he's not very good and needs to work on things. It's just very disappointing. As for Creed, I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they gave him a million dollars because he was good. If he can't make Delmarva it shows he's quite the project and that usually spells trouble. Both in my eyes drop down as prospects for not making a full season club.
  22. Creed Wilem and Baumler not making a full season club if healthy drops their prospect rankings. That's very unfortunate. Even if you are monitoring innings you don't leave a guy like Baumler there if he's what he's supposed to be.
  23. Exactly. Grich was always not appreciated due to his low average. Forget all those walks.
