  1. Seen a lot of minor leaguers so far but interestingly, we have not seen Gunnar Henderson yet.
  2. Akin has never been very good early on. Most of the time it's blamed on poor conditioning but he just typically struggles in the spring.
  3. Major league heavy for sure. Looks like Owens is going to get a shot at 3B. Matteo gets start at SS. Interesting that Mancini is in RF and Santander was on the road yesterday. With Wells starting and Rodriguez due to pitch, this would be an interesting game to watch.
  4. This is where I'm at. Elias is a smart guy and I can see all the interesting ideas he's installed in the minor leagues "Hiring young unknown coaches, focusing on the analytics/systems to improve players, etc" as well as his solid drafting and scouting in the DR. But, until that translates to wins on a major league diamond he hasn't proven anything yet. If the Orioles are a contender by next year he could very well start to become a commodity, but until they are a contender, the jury is still out on the rebuild plan.
  5. It was a dumb question to ask a 20-year old. I typically like Laurilla's stuff, but he was offbase trying to ask technical questions to a 20 year old with limited professional experience.
  6. I don't know who this ex player is that's the Red Sox announcer, but he just literally said the Red Sox might bunt Bogarts to "test how the Orioles handle it for the season". That might be the dumbest thing I've heard an analyst say during spring training since Jim Hunter once said you could tell Chris Lee was a prospect because of his 5-0 record at Bowie the previous year.
  7. It seems as though the Orioles plan to get players ready to play this year does not include many spring training games. It's been a minor leaguer fest so far outside of Gutierrez.
  8. Let's hope that send of Gutierrez was just a spring training mistake. There was no way he was going to score on a ball that shallow with Jackie Bradley Jr. out there.
  9. No, they are still in that very short season "draft league".
  10. I'll take a look but I'll be honest and say I don't use the mobile version very much.
  11. I still don't believe those were the reasons they were let go. I think this team is run as cheaply as possible for sure, but I think they used that as a bad excuse to move on from coaches they were ready to move on from.
  12. If I were them I certainly would. I'd be sticking it to the Angelos family every chance I got. Of course they probably can't since MASN owns the broadcast rights, not the Nationals.
  13. I tend to give the benefit of the doubt to Elias since he said the money would be there when it's time to spend. Saying that, we all know what he's up against and moves like this continue to show how little the Angelos family cares about the fans. We are the peasents and we are supposed to enjoy the occasional bread they throw into the crowd for a cheer.
  14. But substantively it affects the quality of broadcasts. Announcers get a lot more feel for the game when they can look over the entire field. They can judge fly balls better, they can see things that are happening that the TV broadcast may not be picking up. It's utterly and disgustingly embarrassing that MASN is run so cheaply. It truly makes you wonder if the Orioles will ever spend adequately for major league talent when they are so cheap that they wont even send their broadcasters to away games. Until an ownership group that does things in a 1st class way ever takes over the Orioles, we will most likely be always be treated to the Angelos treatment of 3rd class, cut corner ways so their bottom line is at it's best.
  15. Yes, that was Mundy from what I can tell.
  16. Well, at least we can move on back to reality as Orioles fans. Now we get to watch Jorge Lopez get stretched out by the team as they try him as a potential starter once again. However, if you want one bit of conspiracy thinking, he can opt out after the first year. Could he opt out and sign with the Orioles when they are more ready to compete in 2023 and beyond? I know, lol, but there you go.
  17. Big Ben started out great, but he seemed to have caught Mike Bordick disease last year using a lot of the same cliches and looking at everything with orange colored glasses. I hope he refinds his first few season style because he was really good.
  18. Yeah, I can't see how anyone thought Duffy was coming to the Orioles for half a season and why it would make sense for either side.
  19. Update with 3/18 game action.
  20. Made his major league 2022 spring training debut and came and at 2B while Ortiz played SS. Westburg played SS and 3B last year in his 1st professional season. Westburg's arm strength fits better at 2B though it can play at SS for routine plays.
  21. Watkins strikes out the first batter of the game. He looks like a guy!!
  22. The one thing we have to remember about the Davis resigning is that it was pushed for by Buck, but that Angelos was the one that did the negotiations with Boros. We don't know what shape Angelos was in when he had those negotiations, but shortly thereafter he fell out of the public eye. This is an opportunity for John Angelos to show the fans he really does care about building a winner. But if I had to bet on this situation, I think Correa ends up back in Houston.
  23. Well the opt out gives the player the control so if he's amazing he can opt out and go back on the market which makes team's leery. If I were a team I'd front load the contract, give the player an opt out after four and ask for team opt out option after 7 years.
