  1. Excellent news - it's like a cleansing feeling - whether or not there's a buyout - though no buyout would feel better and make it easier to remember the good times.
  2. Wow, your definition of what's good and bad is diametrically opposed to mine. Carpenter combined with Santangelo is a terrific blend. I have no interest in Nats games, but watch them sometimes just to hear them. Brown isn't at all annoying - I like that he takes chances - and is a star in the making, imo.

But those are his only 5 games. Has anyone started their pro career like that?
  4. You'd be surprised at how bad other team's announcers are. I was listening on Sirius the other day to a Yankees broadcast, and it was awful. They had an older sounding gentleman doing the play-by-play as if he never saw a baseball game in his life and a lady who sounded like your stereotypical middle-aged NYer. She actually wasn't terrible, but she had anything but a baseball announcer's delivery.
  5. His August OPS is 1.391 (only 33 plate appearances and with a .440 BABIP). At least keep this up long enough to be POTW - then maybe POTM.
  6. My view is we obviously need Rodriquez to be a TOR, and he should be starting in Baltimore by May, 2022. So, along with Means, that's 2 spots we have covered - hoping they'll be our 2 TOR guys for several years. After that, we do have other options - despite the apparent fails of Akin, Kremer, et al this season. Bauman - if healthy - should get a shot to be in the Baltimore rotation early in the season. Hall, Brnovich and Rom have done well at Bowie and should be options in Baltimore before the end of 2022. And I hope they haven't given up on Lowther and Kremer. Bradish seems most likely to be a reliever in Baltimore, and if they really know he's not cut out for starting, they should bring him up as a reliever. Does anyone ever work out as a starter when it looks like they're more cut out for relieving? I don't think so. Akin's clearly not going to make it as a starter - move him to the pen - give Bradish, Akin and Kevin Smith roles they can be successful in instead going for 1,000 to 1 odds of making them starters.
  7. Sorry to hear that. I hope he has a change of heart and comes back soon.
  8. Looks like there will be a rain delay. My guess is the game starts at 8:38.

Even though it's just 5 games, Cowser's OBP of .737 is insane. He needs better competition.
  10. I'd like to see Mateo, Martin, and Urias for the rest of the season. I'm just not sure who should play which positions. My thinking is Martin's the best SS, so he should play there. It looks like Urias has more experience at 3B than Mateo, so I'd lean towards playing him at 3B with Mateo at 2B. Jahmi Jones seems to have fallen out of the picture - slumping in the minors.
  11. My apologies. I probably misinterpreted the tone of your first post.
  12. With the Collin and Colton show stealing the attention, there's no holding Mayo back - OPSing 1.024 in 88 plate appearances and is 6 of 6 in stolen bases.
  13. Dude, just stop. I raised a question about him, and Tony gave a good reply to it. What your doing is the opposite of a good reply.
  14. I didn't mention the SO's because I was pretty sure that every single person here already knew it.
  15. Wait what? Shouldn't there be a smily thing after that - as in Drew Smyly? The Braves wouldn't be in playoff contention this year if they hadn't signed Morton. Even Smyly has been somewhat useful. And your previous post was spot-on - finding Morton was enormous for Houston in 2017. I'd love for the O's to find the next Charlie Morton.
  16. Very true on both points..
  17. Right, it's especially important with a catcher, because their shelf-life is often limited in comp to other players. We're essentially wasting a year of his career in the minors - a year of the #1 prospect in baseball. That is not an efficient result. And I think it frustrates everyone involved.
  18. I think it shows his lack of pure hitting ability. He has such a good eye that it forces pitchers to throw him strikes, and he still has trouble batting .200.
  19. Thanks for that evaluation. To me, it's bizarre that Tanner doesn't seem to trust his fastball - but does trust his slider - even though sliders are much less predictable. Intuitiively, it seems to me that a Major League pitcher should always be able to command a fastball, but I guess that's not the case.
  20. Fine, when they eventually promote him to Baltimore before Adley, it's best to keep that a secret.
  21. Say he OPS's 1.400 in AAA; still don't bring him up? You don't think that sets a bad example?
  22. 26 years old and only 13.1 innings in AA - with 11 walks.
  23. What more appropriate time is there to promote a player? Hey, I'm glad they finally did it, and hopefully they will do the same with GrayRod asap.
  24. At this point, it's burned into my DNA - heck, I still have the O's trashcan in my room from the day my father took me to my first baseball game.
  25. Personally, I'm a very bad loser, but I appreciate that comment and agree with it.
