  1. Chris Davis knew there is a decent possibility that there will be a strike/lockout and he might not get paid or would be paid less next season. I assume they reached some kind of settlement.
  2. I don't think they are going to let him go more than 80 or so pitches anytime this season. They decided this right or wrong when they went into the season. Next season I am sure they will let them go more but coming off them not playing in games last year this is what they think is best.
  3. These are the best reasons for him not to be here now. Thanks for making this point.
  4. You know that is probably the correct business decision but as a fan I don't give a hoot about service time. I want to see the best baseball players playing on the major league team. This is probably especially the correct decision given the fact that there is going to be a new CBA but again as a fan I don't care. I think the system is broken.
  5. Severino leaves the game and could be headed to the IL. I guess they would bring up Cumberland and move Adley to AAA. Could they bring Adley up? Probably not but it is probably easy to say he is the better player in the minors by far.
  6. It looks like he may be heading to the IL. I guess Cumberland comes up and Adley gets his promotion to AAA.
  7. Batting practice again tonight. I know it is about eating innings this year but it is hard not to turn off the game when he comes in.
  8. I don't hear much about Cody Sedlock but he seems to have had another good start tonight., 5 2/3 innings 1ER on a HR, 4 hits 1 BB, 5 K's. Take out that first bad start and he has been ok. Don't know about his stuff or anything. At 26 he probably has pitched well enough to see what he can do at AAA.
  9. It worked for Cedric Mullins. His stuff is too good for him to pitch this bad. It has to be mostly between his ears. When Grayson goes to Norfolk maybe you send him and tell him just try to dominate hitters at that level with your stuff.
  10. I think you are correct. A friend of mine named his son that as well. Very topical with Top Gun II coming out soon.
  11. You have to love a guy named Maverick!
  12. Tonight versus Jacksonville, 6IP, 0ER, 1 Hit, 2 Walks, 6 K's, He threw 83 pitches. No-hit them through 5 2/3 innings. I expect he could get to Baltimore this years since he is on the 40 man. Dean Kremer is coming in relief in the 7th inning.
  13. I was referring to Jim Palmer who Frobby was talking about in his post.
  14. If he keeps this up for the rest of the season would you bring him back next season? Obviously not scoreless streak forever but and ERA around 4 for the rest of the season.
  15. I don't think many Oriole fans realize how GREAT he was for so long. He should have won two more Cy Youngs than he did.
  16. I don't think Earl would have played him much because he is basically platooning now and he is hitting .201 against right handed pitching. Guys like Benny Ayala hit .309 against Left handed pitching in 1982. That is what Earl liked. When Santander comes back I would cut Stewart before McKenna for the reasons given in this thread.
  17. He hit another HR today.
  18. I would say Baumann because he is 25 years old and he has logged over 340 innings in professional baseball. If he pitches well in AAA you give him 1 or 2 starts in Baltimore.
  19. Nice, I assumed he was done after 5 but he goes 6IP, 0R's, 2 hits, 7K's. He seems to be healthy to me. He is on the 40 man. Maybe he will get a start in Baltimore this September.
  20. I agree but maybe he knows he is destined for the bullpen. He continues to start out of necessity. I would like to see Lopez's arm in the back of the bullpen. Just go out there and let it go for an inning or two.
  21. Severino just plain stinks. You have to catch that ball. I am not one to be critical of Brandon Hyde because of the hand he has been dealt but I question him running him out there 5 out of 7 games. I know they think he will provide more offense but he hasn't. I think it sends the wrong message to put up with his defensive catching.
  22. 5IP tonight 0 runs, 1 hit, 1 walk. He has pitched well for a while now.
  23. I do agree about how bad the food is. I know I am going to pay too much for food at any kind of event like a sports event or concert but it should be better quality food. I went to a Padres game a few years ago and had some of the best food I ever had at a ballpark. It isn't that hard and more expensive to make the food better. I watch Bar Rescue and see John Tafer do it all the time!! LOL.
  24. I would rate him that. Not that it matters that much who is number one or two but if you can find a true number 1 starter in my opinion it can be a better anchor for a franchise. From 1966 to 1983 the Orioles had many great players but one constant was Jim Palmer. To me it is not a coincidence that the franchise was so elite during the years it was mostly anchored by Jim Palmer. When Mussina was on the Orioles from 1992-2000 they had 4 losing seasons, 3 of them his last years as an Oriole. None of those years were horrible.
