  1. A leadoff hitter the Orioles have been looking for since Brian Roberts suffered that concussion. He is fun to watch.
  2. The 70's and early 80's starters weren't bad. I will take that.
  3. Wow, what a catch he just made. He also has a ran a couple down tonight that many previous CF's we have had would have allowed to drop in as base hits. I know people like to point out his arm is not the greatest but he can play center field for me any day.
  4. There isn't a ton of talent to squeeze anything from. The 2012 and 2014 Orioles were much more talented than this team. It didn't take a great manager to squeeze anything from Manny Machado. How much did Buck squeeze out of that 2018 roster that lost 115 games? Saying that I was a fan of Buck but you can't get chicken salad from chicken feathers.
  5. The players in the major leagues aren't little leaguers. Major league managers shouldn't have to teach them "fundamentals". There is a lack of talent not fundamentals. When teams lose fans want to fire the manager but that isn't going to solve anything. Just like firing all the managers Angelos did from 1985 to 2012.
  6. I suggest we keep the manager we have until there is enough talent on the team to make a fair judgement.
  7. I tend to agree with some of this. The service time is going to change one way or the other with the next agreement. It is also a possibility that a long labor strike/lockout that players like Rustchman could lose another season of development to go along with last year. They may need throw a bone to the fans and bring him up providing he keeps hitting like he does.
  8. That is the worse choice that could be made. There is a reason Rick Dempsey is not coaching anywhere. Did you ever hear the things he said on the post game shows over the years?
  9. That is because PG County lifted their mask mandate on May 28th. Once the City of Baltimore lifts their's I am sure the Orioles will follow.
  10. 5 IP 0 runs, 1 hit, 3 walks, 8K's. Not bad 2.14 ERA. I see Norfolk in his near future and Baltimore in Sept.
  11. Rio Ruiz, Steve Wilkerson, Pedro Severino, Sisco, McKenna, Franco, Pat Valaka, Steve Wilkerson, and DJ Stewart are just not everyday major league players. These guys have gotten too many at bats. Some because of injuries but no one can win with all those bad players in a major league lineup. DJ Stewart deserved a long look because of the production he showed in a small spurt last year. However I have seen enough. You could justify one of the catchers lack of offense if they were decent defensively but neither is. I still have a ton of hope for Ryan Mountcastle but he swings at too many bad pitches. He deserves to play everyday because there is no one at Norfolk with any upside to take his spot while he worked on things at AAA. Maybe if Diaz got healthy he could come up and DH and you could justify sending Mountcastle down to try to get it together. Austin Hayes is a good all around player when he is healthy. Him being healthy is just a problem. Some of the injuries in the past you could say were freakish, bad luck, but now it is one hamstring early in the season and now the other hamstring. That just is very concerning. When he is healthy he needs to play. You can say Santander and Mancini are everyday good ballplayers on most teams. Galvis has been a pleasant surprise. Mullins has certainly been good so far but you can't yet say he is a proven reliable everyday major league player yet. However he should play everyday for the rest of the season. If Rutschman gets to the point in July that he is hitting well I have changed my mind that they should bringing him because he can at least play the position defensively. It also gives the fans something to get excited about. You then promote a Michael Bauman and maybe a DL Hall at the end of the year and I think it will give some hope. Maybe even a start by Grayson Rodriquez.
  12. I posted my thread and saw all the posts under yours and assumed you had started it last night. Anyway I think they have figured him out. I hope I am wrong but the hitters just seem to all have a different gleam in their eye when they are hitting against him.
  13. You guys can stick my post in with Frobby's thread. I am slow typer. LOL
  14. It was a good one while it lasted. However it is over. I watched all the swing and misses and really wan't sure how he was getting away with it but enjoyed it like everyone. He is fooling no one any longer. The foul balls are being hit hard. I just take it that it has gotten out you have to slow your instincts down when most pitchers are throwing in the 90's and wait on him and it is sitting there like on a tee.
  15. Would they be better with Adley right now? Yes defensively but he isn't setting the world on fire with the bat yet. If he is hitting 340 and is pushing himself for a promotion then you can make that argument. It makes no sense for him to be called up and have his major league clock start on a team he isn't going to help even if he was knocking the cover off the ball in the minors. I get tired of watching them be non competitive but what did everyone expect this year? What minor league player has performed that well that they are screaming to come up to the majors? When Mountcastle started hitting well they brought him up. I will be happy if Mountcastle and Hayes have good seasons. I know it has been mixed so far but there is a lot of games yet to play. I am hoping for Baumann to show something this year in the majors and maybe DL Hall late in the season. That I would consider a success.
  16. That 65% number represents the total population available to be vaccinated, (age 12 and over) so their percentages are higher than that but yea it may take a while. I suspect if the case number keep coming down he will lift them sooner than that and OPACY will follow. This will become a consumer choice as well. Some won't go until it is lifted. Knowing the city restaurants require a mask I would more likely go to a county one that does not. I am vaccinated and went into one Tuesday and it was just like old times. I think pressure will increase for the City to lift these mandates sooner.
  17. I think the mayor said the city is lifting mask mandates when 65% of the city population receives at least 1 vaccine shot. Once that happens I would suspect OPACY will follow.
  18. It is a no brainer decision playing under National League rules with runners on 2nd and 3rd in a 0-0 or any tied game.
  19. Lowther gets his first start tomorrow night per the skipper.
  20. No doubt. What was his numbers just as a left handed hitter in the minors? I would look it up if I knew how. He looks like a real good left handed hitter.
  21. Hyde just said he is day to day that it was feeling better after the game. It is a groin pull. It doesn't sound like he is headed for the DL. If he would have been I would expect Ritchie Martin to get the call up.
  22. Hey I like both of these guys. Mullins does look like he has figured it out. The Orioles haven't had a leadoff hitter that can do what he is doing now for a very long time.
  23. Well I just held my breath after watching Hayes take a ball off his hand. It is amazing how some players seem to have things like that happen more than others. It looks like he dodged a bullet this time.
  24. Something happened or was brought to someones attention that isn't in public cyberspace that we don't know about or probably never no about.
  25. Again he is calling the road games from a monitor in Camden Yards not in Texas where the team is. You need to give him a break on these road games.
