Sounds like an Elias move to me. Cover innings, get CF with upside & control, free up Mullins for trade in off-season.

I agree that when he comes back he will be in a relief role. They will take their time to get him built back up by roster deadline.

Bullpen = high stress innings & unpredictable workload. They want to be able to control how & when he works.

Deload to get ready for final push. Gas tank was on empty. Will be curious to see how they use him. I imagine they start him with 1-2 innings and build him back up.

Those guys plus the new draftees and all the sudden we have some interesting arms to follow the remainder of the year.

I’ve been beating this drum for a while now. I can’t see them getting any SP of significance. Maybe a low key under the radar guy to eat innings. I think they will add a bullpen arm or two. Bradish + GRod + Wells/Kremer/means will be the playoff starting pitchers.
