  1. I thought title was Birds in Paris and was waiting to see a pic of Holliday on his honeymoon. Might be time for glasses.
  2. No doubt. My point was the tech is out there. It’s just a matter of a market for it and, of course, the data entry. It would be pretty awesome if you could click on a MLb player and get a 10 sec video of every single play they were involved in. Just doesn’t seem, to me, there’d be a market for it outside of baseball pros and baseball nerds like us.
  3. Do we really think MLB FO’s take into consideration 3rd party ranking systems when making trades?
  4. There’s got to be an easy way, but doubt there is a market for it outside of FO’s. The GameChanger app that most youth teams use these Days can slice and dice all plays (assuming data was entered correctly) every player makes both on offense and defense.
  5. Sure. And the goal is to have a good team every year. They finished 7th in pitching last year. They aren’t planning their entire dev program around 2024 success.
  6. Nah. His swing is damn near perfect. He’s likely to add significant exit velo over the next few years as He grows.
  7. They are talking about average exit velocity, not max exit velocity or 90th percentile exit velocity. So that counts every single ball put into play. Average exit velocity is a better gauge of how often the player is making solid contact vs. how much max power they have. Impressive nonetheless.
  8. ….because Elias is a great judge of talent, has created a world class development system that is pumping out players other teams covet, and truly believes his guys are better?
  9. Thanks for the research. I’m going to dig into it a little further. I started going through the list to see % of LHP that played 5+ years. Agree with your point about 5 years vs. 5 years service time. I’m truly interested to see if there really is such a big advantage (as we’ve all been lead to believe) to being a LHP. Or Is it just that only 25-30% of all pitchers are LH so it’s a scarcity supply/demand thing.
  10. That’s for every single iteration of player. For a LHP I imagine that number is quite different. I’d be kinda suprised if Povich doesn’t carve out a 6 year career in some capacity.
  11. Westburg 3b, Gunnar SS, Holliday 2B. Book it. No chance Holliday starts in AAA. Development factory pumping out draft picks.
  12. Turns out Astros weren’t pinching pennies. Makes me wonder about their intentions for wanting to trade Framber. My off-season pipe dream was Hader. Oh well.
  13. Last year 27.7% of the Orioles total PA came vs. LHP. Of that 27.7% total 23.4% was LHP v. LHB. It’s important, but competing vs. RHP is 2.5X more important. 1521 PAs RHP v RHB for a .679 OPS 399 PAs LHP v LHB for a .648 OPS
  14. I’ve n been thinking of the same thing. % of LHPs, while increasing, is still relatively low. Our park is geared very favorably for left handed batters. They very obviously have a preference for left handed hitters. I don’t think it’s just happenstance. I don’t think the RH/LH balance is very important to them.
  15. Only 4 of 19 (21%)pitchers. I know you gotta go for the athletes but I thought for sure we’d see more pitchers signed. Last year 9 of 27 (33%)were pitchers. When I have time I’m going to look at the attrition rate of these guys. I’m curious the percentage that make it to affiliate ball.
  16. Seth Johnson. He’s already 25 and hasn’t thrown that many innings. He’s already had injury problems and in the short stint he came back last year the stuff wasn’t the same (I know SSS). I think of all the guys listed he’s most likely to be in the bullpen. I really like DeLeon, Povich & McD. Baumeister intrigues me and obviously the FO saw something they liked so it’s Johnson for me. Pretty wild all the sudden we have some good arms to discuss. Next year should tell us a lot about how our pitching looks long term.
  17. He makes the ball dance. If he can throw strikes, he’s a serious weapon. 4 potentially plus pitches. He was like. 2.0 BB9 guy in college. Have always wondered if the walks in minors is just working on his stuff. If he puts it together, watch out.
  18. Tried to put together a solid grouping of legit talent that wouldn’t kill us but would hurt a little. Stowers is a good player.
  19. It would hurt. Was trying to be realistic. They wanted some pitching. Would think if we include pitching it’d be 2+ years away.
  20. I just keep hitting their logo trying to close out the page
  21. I agree. I think they draft to maximize asset building vs. trying to fill positions. I’m just a little surprised we havn’t seen more prospect trade for lower level pitching.
