  1. A ton of deals that were obviously worst then the Belle deal when signed. Just on last year's team the Davis and Trumbo deals were both awful before the ink was dry. A lot of the deals they gave to bullpen arms were obvious mistakes from day one. Belle was a premium bat (if not person) who had no glaring history of injury.
  2. I like Schoop well enough but he's only ever really had one good year. I don't think he's going to be worth more than salary relief at the deadline. I don't see the point of trying to bring him back.
  3. That would explain why you have Rutschman so high.
  4. I'm torn between being pleased you included Rodriguez and shocked you included Grenier.
  5. Former first round cred only last so long. Everyone forgets Josh Hart when they are calling Matusz or Stewart a bust. He never made it out of Frederick.
  6. So a smaller percentage of the money would be deferred. The article compares it to the Scherzer deal. Fangraphs had this to say about the Scherzer deal when it was signed. That's still a ton of deferred money.
  7. Is it a fluke when the team specifically sat him to maintain his eligibility?
  8. Neither have I honestly, I just remember him looking rough out there and Buck talking about the second deck.
  9. I think an equivalent amount of data from 2017 paints a different picture of his defense.
  10. I know Max is a tough guy but I'm doubting that a guy that couldn't lift his throwing arm on Sunday is going to be able to throw 94-95 with solid command. I don't think he makes it out of the third. I also think Cole is going to come in out of the pen if the Astros have a lead.
  11. Just saying, how much weight do you give 21 games in the majors?
  12. I can see someone not being swayed by a hot three weeks. He didn't exactly kill it in AAA.
  13. How come no one has Leonardo Rodriguez in their top 30? Is it age? He's not been old for his level, just not young. I'd find a way to slot him in at 30.
  14. And once the MASN situation gets settled they will have plenty of cash for the payments. Deferred money is a solid strategy but too much of it can impede roster construction down the road.
  15. Did they? This time last year they had a big offer on the books for Harper, only to find out later it was full of deferred payments and the actual value was lower.
  16. 1. Adley Rutschman How acquired: Lost 115 games.
  17. Yea, that would be why I said appeared. It is possible that he would have brought back more, but it is also possible he would not have. The extra year of control might have priced him out of the market and the O's would have had to wait until the offseason to attempt to move him.
  18. The Brewers might simply have not been willing to pay a higher price and no other team appeared interested. In which case Schoop would have either stayed an Oriole or gone to the Brewers for the same return. Schoop isn't worth more if no one is willing to pay more. Ultimately the market decides.
  19. They couldn't get an extra year out of Manny. The Brewers non-tendered Schoop, I'm not at all sure an extra year would have improved the return.
  20. I wouldn't bother with a pitcher. Too easy to send them down.
  21. I think so. Offense was down in 2014, low scoring games are "boring" so around the all star break of 2015 more HR. Then this season more HR until the playoffs then it was less HR.
