If what you are trying to say is that you are OK with him being ranked #25 but think that should be considered a low #1 - high #2 I don't disagree with you. If you have 30 teams you should have 30 #1 starters.

That's because you are looking for a reason to view it that way. If Bradish pitched for the Brewers would you still feel that way? If they viewed him as a fluke why would he be rated in the top 30?

I wouldn't say a fluke, just had a strong year. Folks are acting like 25th overall is somehow a bad ranking. That's lower end #1 higher end #2 starting pitcher. I think that's fair considering the sample size.

Urias won that GG in 2022. Did you think his defense in 2023 was as good? Mateo had a very impressive year with the glove in 2022, looks like it was an outlier, which happens with defense.

How can you say, with certainty, that the club has superior options? Gunnar is needed at short. The combination of Defense + Offense that Mayo provides could very well exceed the value of the other options. Urias had a 98 OPS+ last year, 106 for his career. Westburg was at 100. Of course it isn't a lock that Mayo will exceed their production but he's got a higher ceiling on offense than either of them. I think you are caught up a bit too much in what you think are his defensive liabilities.

You do realize that it isn't all about the glove right? You can't speak with confidence that Mayo at third would be less valuable than Westburg or Urias when factoring in all aspects of the game.

They haven't moved him off the position. I think you hit a point of diminishing returns with what you can learn in the minors.

If that is the case i think he handled the situation poorly this spring. If the guy can't succeed don't put him in a situation in which he can visibly check all the boxes.

They aren't going to be sitting, they just aren't going to be playing as often. They will still be working in ML facilities with ML coaches and experiencing life in the majors. That way they will be more ready when the time comes for them to start. If someone isn't talented enough to force their way onto the roster I'm not worried about year six or seven. Do you care if the 2030 Orioles have the rights to a 30 year old Norby? I've already stated that I'd put Mayo at third and make Westburg a super utility getting reps in the infield and outfield.

Short version. Tim Donaghy was caught, by the feds, for influencing games as a ref. There was a pretty compelling amount of evidence indicating Scott Foster was working with him in this endeavor. The NBA basically refused to work with the FBI. Tim went to jail, Scott is still a ref to this day and the NBA ended up with close to 0 long term fallout. Fun fact, a player very recently made the money hand symbol to Scott and got a 100K fine.
