They need to let him learn how to finish ML hitters and how to throw more than 85 effective pitches in a start. How they have babied him to this point isn't helping him now.

How many pitches did he throw? How many minor league starts did he have, in his career, with that many pitches? Is it shocking he has trouble doing something he's basically never been asked to do?

You learn by doing. Not by beating up on minor leaguers.

Because you will be able to put away minor league hitters with pitches that won't work on ML hitters. You can probably afford to get a bit sloppy against minor league hitters up 0-2 or 1-2, most have probably already resigned themselves to failure that at bat.

That is something you kinda have to learn at the ML level.
