  1. And Ruth isn't a good comp because while he was a great hitter as an older, heavier man, I wouldn't say that version of Ruth was that amazing an athlete. It was the younger Ruth who also pitched and could steal bases. At Willems' age Ruth did not have a similar body type. Someone like Kirk would have been a much better choice. But no, we have to go for the HoF player, even if it isn't actually a good comp.
  2. I hope not. He needs to figure some things out at the major league level. He deserves more rope.
  3. My goal wasn't to prove that only folks in peak physical conditions can do well. I don't care for the Har Har Ruth was fat narrative that gets tossed out. Young Ruth was a large man but quick and fit.
  4. I'm a fan. I've been a vocal fan but we've seen this from him before. This could be him turning a corner or it could just be one of his hot steaks that turns ice cold for weeks at a time. I hope it's the former.
  5. I don't think McKenna getting sent down would, in and of itself, lower the ranking of the farm system that much.
  6. It's not really sarcasm, I mean they should have the best data to make the optimal decisions. I'm a pro data guy, I'd love to see what they are looking at for some of these decisions.
  7. Nope. Before then. Butterfly wings and all who knows what might have happened?
  8. I don't know. I'm actually fine with the analytics department having input into lineup decisions. They should have the best data.
  9. Yep, some of us have been saying it all along. As for Grayson, I'm not worried yet. Just let him work things out in the majors unless he really falls apart. Last season would have been a better time to do it but it is what it is.
  10. I think he's good at the managing people part. Game management...not as strong.
  11. I think his last inning was at least partially due to fatigue. Feel free to disagree.
  12. First off he was at 99 and secondly, not often at all. Elias and company pretty much had him pulled at 80-85.
  13. They need to let him learn how to finish ML hitters and how to throw more than 85 effective pitches in a start. How they have babied him to this point isn't helping him now.
  14. How many pitches did he throw? How many minor league starts did he have, in his career, with that many pitches? Is it shocking he has trouble doing something he's basically never been asked to do?
  15. You learn by doing. Not by beating up on minor leaguers.
  16. Yep, they should totes make a decision based off of two starts. Wildcard isn't this reactionary.
  17. That should buy him at least a couple of innings of grace from his detractors.
