  1. You would think with all the tax dollars that support the Orioles that they may have to occasionally have some public accountability
  2. JJ Hardy 2015 -.564 OPS. 2016 .716 OPS … age 32 and 33 .. Plenty of examples. Frazier may not play well but it is not age related
  3. I will gladly take his 2021 season. Other Frazier posters have also made the same comment that he was no good for the last 3 years. What am I missing here?
  4. As I have said in the other thread, I supported the signing and I believe Adam Frazier will outperform his deal. In 6 seasons Frazier had an OPS+ of 104 and had a standout AllStar season just in 2021 with a down season after changing leagues in 2022. Does Elias know this? Yes. Does he know more than this? Yes, if not him then Sig and his analytics team certainly do. Just as a nonstat fan, I like that for 6 seasons in NL his strikeouts were 12.7 percent, 10 percent lower than MLB norms and he has a flexible defensive capability. I predict a 2 WAR season.
  5. Adley will most likely do so if the money convinces him and if the team is winning. All the rest is just projective speculation as to what you think so that must be what Adley thinks. Maybe Adley has different thoughts.
  6. I disagree with your original opinion that 5.5 million is not life changing. Most everyone would say that it was. But yes, let’s move on. Adley will be worth closer to a billion when done. I will not be.
  7. It is silly. No person is just going to stick 5 million under their mattress for 50 years. How much investment interest do you think 5.5 million would likely earn in 50 years? He is a 10 millionaire at his tender young age.. He will likely make 500 million in his career. I am not worried about Adley or his heirs.
  8. Probably a lot if he just put it in an index fund. But come on .. that amount of money alone is far more than the vast majority of people ever make in their lifetime. And once players sign contracts.. their money is guaranteed.. if they can’t work for a year they get full salary.. if they can’t work for the length of their entire contract or they perform abysmally, they get paid. Chris Davis will make millions doing absolutely nothing till 2037. So let’s maintain a little perspective about poor Adley.. lol Am I somehow supposed to worry about Adley’s heirs? He comes from a very strong family background by all accounts, is a very grounded young man and he will do just fine even with only the 5.5 million lol
  9. Perhaps.. i suspect winning the AL East this year probably changes the number too That 2014 rocking Camden Yards atmosphere was pretty good culturally speaking.
  10. I expect Adley would do it if the money and security was right for him . Same reason most players do. The rest is just speculation that he and players view Elias et al in the same disappointed way fans do. Unlikely. Oh .. the “good players” he traded then sucked the rest of the season, right? Minor detail left out. Do you want them back for 2023? These “good” players? Or was that actually a smart move? Maybe Adam, Mychael, Kyle, and James can get a Tshirt.. “The Reclamation Projects”
  11. Funny… when the reserve clause was eliminated by negotiator Peter Seitz.. As owner Charley Finley pleaded with other owners to do just that. Make them all free agents every year. Marvin Miller said that proposal was “my worst nightmare because I couldn’t argue against more freedom”. He recognized that flooding the market rather than targeted releases onto the market every year would depress contracts. Miller said “fortunately the other owners never listened to Finley.”
  12. Umm maybe shopping for ultra organic imported eggs at Whole Foods versus eggs at Food City. Or growing one’s own… on the farm.
  13. Well Adley doesn’t have Boras, so there is at least that.
  14. I never know any facts. Only idle speculation. It is a fan’s lot in life.
  15. He was part of St Louis and Houston organizations and has approached the rebuild with same methodology .. i will wait for the results of the next three seasons and see. All GMs have budgets.. this is not unique to Baltimore. Do I wish he had more resources? Who doesn’t.. but I will speculate that he is more competitive than you think he is and at least is not actively looking to be Toronto’s President. .. yet
  16. We have many fifth spot possibles … Voth, Wells, Watkins, Baumann, etc etc Pass on Cueto.
  17. They probably didn’t in Houston either .. after losing 100 plus four years in a row. And then 80 plus win seasons for two years and then 2017 when they traded at the deadline in Aug for Verlander and won 101 games Make no mistake, Elias will not be content just with a team that contends. But we may not see a big trade like that this offseason.
  18. Yes infielders or outfielders could be included in a deal. We went all through the Frazier argument in two other threads. My view is he will contribute significantly more value than his 8 mil salary but this will have to be demonstrated on the field to change the opposing view.
  19. Sorry .. seemed like most of the focus about the offseason lack of activity has been the lack of free agent signings. But quite right .. trades also involve risk. I think we could still see a major trade before spring training.
  20. Houston model did not involve huge mega deal free agent signings. Trades obtained pitching like Verlander and Cole.
  21. It could make us a playoff contender. You can’t know. It gives depth and injury protection.
  22. Yeah just spending big time risk free agent dollars after a 94 loss season.. Not that big free agent signings ever go south lol
