The 28-man roster will be as follows IMO :)
rudyrooster replied to interloper's topic in Orioles Talk
Just a gut feeling, but wouldn't be at all surprised to see the O' release Odor in the next few days. He's just not showing me anything positive in Spring Training. -
Whoa! Why are so many of these other teams signing good players? Acting like they wanna win. Don't they no better?
-
Exactly! I realize the O's probably aren't gonna get him but hope springs Eternal this time of year.
-
Seems like the O's have some sorta connection to Cuba. If rumors are to be believed, Prieto is the Cuban version of Tony Gwynn.

MLBPA has agreed by a vote of 26-12 to accept the latest owners offer. Let there be baseball!
-
What are the odds that the owners agree to end the "lockout" and play this upcoming season under the same guidelines of the current CBA? Effectively "kicking the can down the road" for one more year.
-
50 years status quo? Even more reason to update the process.
-
Negotiations are a "give and take" situation. I thus far have seen only the MLBPA make any significant "give" in these negotiations. The union has reportedly abandoned its proposal on getting players a quicker path to free agency. I had perceived this particular issue as being one of the main "sticking points" on the way to a new CBA. I realize there are other major issues to be worked out. Just wanted to make that point.

Will Jacob Nottingham be on our Opening Day roster?
rudyrooster replied to Frobby's topic in Orioles Talk
Yep, I saw them. Free agents are gonna get their money. MLBPA wants more opportunities for "younger" players to make big bucks. As an example, how much is John Means worth right now on the open market? I'll guess some MLB team would pay him right now 3 years/27 million dollars. Under the current arbitration system Means is projected to make 3.1 million for the 2022 season. Some form of earlier "restricted" free agency is needed. -

Point well taken. Does this constitute an "impasse"? If so we may not see major league baseball in 2022. Heaven forbid. -

Players want an earlier chance at more money. Always follow the money. That's why I think think this "work stoppage" could significantly disrupt the 2022 season. -

Well, as long as this thread has gone totally off the rails then here's my two cents. Baseball is sorta unique in that some players are signed at age 16 and others at 21 or 22. I perceive that eligibility for free agency is turning out to be the 800 pound gorilla in the room in any proposed new CBA. Why not just do away with the Arbitration process altogether. After 3 years service time a player becomes a "restricted" free agent (sorta like the NBA and NFL). The player's team has the right to match any other teams offer for that player. It seems to have worked well in other sports. -
As the OP says "don't worry".

Dumb question. The Mets are currently without a manager. Can they hire a manager during this lockout or is it againt the rules?

Some Intriguing prospects up for Rule 5 grabs (in my opinion):
rudyrooster replied to DocJJ's topic in Orioles Talk
Does anybody here really believe we'll see a Rule 5 draft on December 5th? If owners and players hammer out a new CBA agreement a week or two before spring training then I'm not optimistic they will bother with a Rule 5 draft this off-season. It's still okay to speculate. What else is their for a basball fan to do this time of the year? -
MLBTR: Can We Get Excited About the Orioles Yet?
rudyrooster replied to Aristotelian's topic in Orioles Talk
Agreed. That's a pretty good synopsis of the current state of the O's from a national writer. -
Not really much here we didn't already know in this article. The writer does warn to "temper" expectations of Adley. Heck, it's the offseason. Always looking for another perspective on the O's. https://www.forbes.com/sites/tonyblengino/2021/11/10/baltimore-orioles-are-at-a-critical-point-in-their-tank-rebuild/amp/

As a fan, I would feel sorry for Mullins, Means, Mountcastle, Hays, etc. knowing they are looking at another 100+ loss season. For heavens sake get these guys at least a little bit of help and hope.

The MLB Trade Rumours article mentions that the Reds are probably looking for a return package similar to what they got for Jose Berrios. Two top 100 MLB prospects from the Blue Jays.
-
I'm not advocating such a trade. Just throwing it out there as what it would probably take to just get the Reds attention.
-
No chance Reds would go for that kinda deal. I'm thinking it would take D.L Hall and another top 10 prospect to at least grab their attention.
-
According to MLB TradeRumours the Reds are open to trading starting pitcher Luis Castillo. Two years of team control remaining. Career 3.72 ERA and never been on the IL. Reds asking price is reported to be high. Should we be interested? If so, what type of package would it take to get him? https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/11/reds-willing-to-discuss-luis-castillo-in-trade-talks.html

Good luck Giants.
