  1. Very good possibility. He had most of the tools to be a superstud. He wont be the first that played hard and unable to stay healthy.
  2. I have no issues with Elias, its the unknown portion that we are not privy to. What is his payroll authorization cap?
  3. mlbtraderumors is making the case that Nimmo can get 5/86 that Chapman got and that was six years ago and inflation being what it is. 110 is not unrealistic.
  4. Your right, my bad, forgot to drill down from 2023 to 2022. So they werent the cheapest, but dang, not a good place to be.
  5. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/payroll/ spotrac says otherwise.
  6. it can work, the stars all align in the right moment of time. This wasnt a "bad" team either, in spite of the pathetic payroll.
  7. Good post. I think for me, its getting a bit old to hear words, with no substance. Walk the talk or shutup, is where I am at. Its not that I dont respect Elias and his ability to do the job. Its how hand tied is he? This lowest payroll in MLB is unjustified to me the fanbase.
  8. You are probably right. I dont think any fan would be in agreement with every move on any team. This off-season for me, will be a key factor in my opinion of Elias and his "rebuild".
  9. The Orioles did do the right thing and slashed payroll, no reason to pay for losing, like they was. However, their rebuild has been at a snails pace, leaving some of us to wonder, how serious they are.
  10. agreed, they did get some value from some of their spending. Instead of sitting back and not spending and playing small money ball. I will never advocate big market spending and buying teams. However, not in agreement that you just draft and dumpster dive.
  11. Good point, and Philly was allowed to increase the payroll, which worked for them.
  12. POA only works, if you trust people. If you are a micromanager maniac, its doubtful you are going to sign off a POA to allow somebody else to run your portfolio.
  13. Looking at their standings, they had 2 down years and bounced back. I would take over that past few years before this season.
  14. I want to be good enough to thump on any team we play, and not looking to be good against the weaker ones.
  15. when you trade people and ROI isnt what it should be. Are you really serious about building a contender?
  16. Obviously, the key to helping the bullpen, to have quality starters. If I was king, I would also have a long man in the pen, some guy that I could though out there for 5 innings, if my starter took an early exit, or even emergency start here and there.
  17. Spring Training invite and see how he responds, and then decide what to do with him.
  18. Very sad, if he took his own life. Do you this is what happened? I could only find this:
  19. I think the main problem here. The lack of any information about what the ownership feels the direction should be, and what kind of lease does Elias have to pull the trigger on deals. So far, its been waiver wire, low end trades, and draft picks. The team has improved, but to take it to the next level, they have to expand on their options. Im not talking about being silly and spending 200 million a year in payroll either.
  20. I wouldnt mind signing him for 2 years. But, deep pocket teams will probably go 3 for him. Even a 1 year one deal at 45, I dont see this team pulling the trigger.
  21. Can we get rid of the Hotel that blocks the flight path? :):):)
  22. How can you trade Lopez and claim to not be in the playoff chase. Yet, at the end of the season, claim this team has it to complete with the AL East???? I know, my paraphrasing is probably off some, but you get the gist. Elias pulled that trigger, return wasnt great, and now we are a better team.
  23. High expectations from the fandome that we sign a premium FA. Hate to be a Debby Downer, but I dont see that happening. I hope to be proven wrong.
