  1. Reverse physiology in play, Frobby worked that very well.
  2. Depends on the return on investment, which one brings you the best players?
  3. just put them on the foul grounds warming up.
  4. what started me off on the moving walls joke, was a tv commercial, where the NBA rules changes were many, and the players had jetson jet packs to pay, and the basket was a moving target 25 feet off the ground.
  5. adjustable walls, when the home team is up, the wall is 6ft tall and 30 ft closer to home plate. away team is up, the wall is 18ft tall and 400 ft from home plate lol
  6. I dont think Elias had any intention of trying to compete this year. He has a different timeline that he is matching to. I think the success caught him by surprise, but he never waivered from his original plan, whatever that is.
  7. I know off topic. Was wondering how you was coping with the floods from IAN? I have family on the east coast, that have lost everything.
  8. Did anybody truly have this team playing meaningful games in the fall?
  9. I dont disagree. Ideally, there are better all around players that push Mateo to the bench in a Ult backup role, if he cant. Until that happens, then play him.
  10. He has several game winning hits too. The other night, he was on base, and was knocked in when they scored the only 2 runs of the night.
  11. I like the combination of Mateo at SS and Henderson at 3rd. I have to admit, his bat is on the weaker side, but his speed and base running abilities is super. Mateo's WAR is 3.2 So he is bringing value to the roster
  12. Knew it was rare to have 2 SB dudes on the same roster on top the league. Didnt realize it was that rare. thanks
  13. This team has speed and more than 1 guy can motor. I love the long ball as much as anybody. The ability to be able to play small ball, is critical to winning more games than you lose. When is the last time the Orioles had 2 guys in the top 3 of MLB in SBs?
  14. The 5 pitcher no-hitter against the A's will always be a fond memory and one that I was able to watch.
  15. I know you know your baseball history on here better than anybody else. I have trouble buying this story.
  16. Palmer said that Bedard had the best stuff of any lefty that ever pitched for the Orioles.
  17. He sure looked good last night, looked like he had all his pitches working and where he wanted them to.
  18. Think he went 5 and he was still throwing 96 when they gave him the early hook.
  19. My take aways from the game. Old man Verlander, could still bring the heat, throughout the game. He was also throwing 80 and 89, to really offset the 96. Bradish is a stud on the mound. Love watching him pitch Gunnar has one whale of a cannon for an arm. Mateo is a stud at SS with the glove. I prefer the Earl King of the 3 run home run. However, if small ball wins the game, then lets go, this team has some speed for sure.
  20. Look at it this way. They have been in the race for much of the season, that beats the previous few seasons. Playing meaningful games in the fall, is pretty much the goal of the team. Yes, WS is the best goal. Hard to be interested in following your team, if they are 30 games out of .500
  21. Pitchers are a crapshoot. Look at Gausman. He might have benefited for better coaching and allowed to throw his goto pitch more. Arrieta was certainly the benefit of better coaching. Ed-Rod was a mid guy here in AA, not a blue chipper, yet, look at him. Zach Britton was running out of rope here, until he came up with his goto pitch that made him unhittable and a stud closer. Im not going to yell about Hobgood, lots of organizations can point to clue chippers that dont pan out.
  22. Great thread. Love that 1983 team. one my of personal favorite.
  23. cool, I really thought the glove used in the 1900-1930 was super thin and small. thanks for the historical lesson.
