  1. And I think as we continue to acquire/develop more and more of these types this line of thinking becomes easier. The value of one prospect to the organization becomes less and less when this happens.
  2. Yeah I understand that any trade can go different ways. My vote for this trade is more about Hall than anything else. I understand the line of thinking in trading him I guess, but when he becomes a star, which I think is quite realistic, that would hurt. Even if he doesn’t make it as a starter, he has Josh Hader written all over him.
  3. It is a ‘potentially’ great return for Santander. The other side of the coin is that you trade him for essentially what Zimmermann can give you.
  4. My vote is Santander/Snell if these are the two choices. Gets Stowers up, potentially fills a rotation spot for next couple years. I would do everything in my power if I were Elias to do better than this trade for Santander, but I’m not sure what is realistic on that front.
  5. Yeah, I’ve seen him all over fans on social media defending his teammates so I would say you will get more out of him.
  6. I feel like this overall line of thinking about draft for need is a little bit of Oriole fan trauma. Like we have to draft need because the cupboard is always bare. My thought is that you keep drafting good players and signing International good players, this line of thinking goes away. This is what I would believe Elias is doing, flooding the system with talent so you rarely would ever draft “for need”.
  7. Agreed. To me, there is a big difference between “promoting” based on performance vs “resetting” to your proper level. This seems like the latter. Hell, that reset probably should be Bowie but I certainly understand a level at a time.
  8. Stewart seems like the kind of player that ends up on the A’s or Rays and hits 30 HR with a 350 OBP
  9. To me these are very different pitchers. Kremer’s stuff has always been superior to Zimmermann’s. There was always that feeling that he (Zimm) was a little over his head. Now not saying Kremer won’t regress, but I don’t think the results he is getting right now are that shocking given his profile.
  10. Here’s a fun one to consider…who debuts first, Gunnar or Grayson?!? Would have been a ridiculous question a week ago(and probably still is), but Gunnar could make this interesting.
  11. He hasn’t given them a whole lot of choice, especially with this promotion.
  12. Man, early Monday morning drinking Wildcard, you the man!!! But to be real, I have no expectations for them except improvement and minor league graduations. Then my true expectation will be will they do what they need to do next offseason.
  13. I just really don’t see Gunnar coming up before this time next year. Even if we are “in it” I just have my doubts the front office would break character.
  14. The promotion routines are done from a scarcity mindset. When you don’t have a ton of players in the pipeline, you slow roll until all the players can play together at the bigs as many years as possible. When you have a never ending stream of prospects flowing through your system, this isn’t a thing. Now I’m not saying what they are doing is right, but this is the mindset imo. It will be interesting when (if) we have that steady stream of prospects if the mentality will change.
  15. It’s such a weird developmental philosophy/implementation. Where else would you be training for a profession and be kept in this sheltered environment, without key check marks being checked, and then thrown into the profession around the most talent you have ever faced saying “good luck”.
  16. Is health his only question mark at this point? Or are there still questions about command?
  17. I think his current age plays a factor. If he were 21/22, then I could see playing the game. He is already 24 years old, I just can’t see keeping him down any longer. All knees have a lifespan, but catchers knees are different.
  18. I hear ya, but the Os were in a pennant race and had a deep need at 3b….Certainly a different scenario here. With that being said, I sure would love to see him play well enough to make them think about it. At some point, with the group of middle infielders we have, it will be important to get them up in order to sort them out.
  19. True, but I think the point Sportsguy makes is that we have seen Halls potential albeit in small waves. Kjerstad, although a high pick, still is a professional unknown.
  20. Agree completely. If Hall comes out heathy and firing, the one guy makes the whole system seem deeper and more dangerous.

    Drew Rom 2021

My understanding is Rom at 93 is a dude. Rom at 90 is a maybe.
  22. What is the reasoning behind not using a uniform baseball for all minors and majors? I’m sure there is a reason but I can’t seem to reason what it is.
  23. I can get behind an organizational hitting philosophy rooted in Ted Williams/Rogers Hornsby principles.
