  1. He's only 18, but similar to Chance Sisco, we will most likely let him catch until AAA. Is he athletic enough to play a position other than 1B if he doesn't develop into a competent catcher?
  2. Is Baulmer even ready to pitch anytime soon? With all the offseason feel good stories surrounding the other pitchers, it’s been crickets since he last pitched.
  3. Did anyone keep track of Rom’s velocity from his first start? There was an off-season article that said he was aiming to hit mid 90s from his work at some pitching lab. Many here felt it was too ambitious and maybe not realistic.
  4. Maybe he can be our next 1B/DH/OF like Mancini or a Mountcastle replacement if we decide to trade him.
  5. I had the same thought and don’t understand the love for Vavra. I would rather use Westburg who has earned it at AAA. Someone who can play multiple positions and has power.
  6. Everytime I see a post. I think something will happen. Unfortunately, it’s more speculation
  7. Same here, 5’9 at that age and peaked at 5’10. Disappointed that I never made it to 6 ft despite the early growth potential.
  8. Having such a small frame, will he be any better than Pinto who has a similar height and caps out at 95? I guess roll that lottery ticket, nothing to lose.
  9. Never heard of WIRED training, can we speculate that he’s trying to add velocity and cleanup/maximize his delivery? Hopefully a big leap next year in performance. Same for Rom.
  10. I’m surprise not much has been said after he disappeared after a few games. Is he a full go to start 2023 or still injured?
  11. This is exactly why we should have stuck with Lyles, the 11M looks like a bargain now with escalating pitching salaries. We know he’s innings eater and battle tested with American East. Don’t think Gibson was a significant net positive swap.
  12. I am little surprised he wasn’t ranked lower, he will be 24 before he throws a pitch again or may never recover. At 24, going from A ball and then working up - seems like a long journey.
  13. It’s a mad world that Degrom could possibly get 40-45 million without pitching 180 innings the last few years. I understand he’s a big name with 2 Cy Youngs under his belt and high strikeouts. Would Kershaw be a reasonable option at a lower cost? Same age and similar credentials.
  14. I just saw a New York post article titled “Zach Wheeler: Jabob Degrom happy with Mets but wants to be paid his worth” speculating that DeGromm will opt out due to not getting paid enough despite make 32M. (Sorry phone won’t copy the link) If he’s unhappy making 32M, do you think the front office is willing to 40 M? I have my doubts. With all his injuries, should we even bother getting into this bidding with so much risk?
  15. DeGromm is 32 years old and hasn’t pitched 150+ for awhile, can we speculate it’s one year deal at 40+ or 3 years at 30+?
  16. I loves me some Adley, but Rodriguez deserves the ROY award. He’s already better than Adam Jones (O’s icon) at the same age.
  17. I do wonder why the respect for Fangraphs prospect list in general. I had the same thought when I looked through their rankings, seem like it needs a refresh most of the time, seeing prospects who should be dropped like Yorke and former draft picks - even Mayo, he’s one of our guys, but surprise he’s that high - I get 20 yr who made AA, but definitely down year.
  18. How do you become a Birdland members? Missed fan fest of years past.
  19. Don’t get the need for a Britton reunion, outside of nostalgia. He’s older and declining and will cost more than most of our bullpen guys. Elias has shown the talent to get bullpen pieces with minimal cost through waiver wire and minor trades. Money is best spent on starting pitching!
  20. If he skips the Arizona Fall League, how does he build innings to be starter next year? He’s at 75 innings.
  21. Wrong choice of words - how in-tune are they with folks who watch or scout them regularly. Meaning not having prospects in top 5 due to draft selection after a year worth of data - See Nick Gonzales and Austin Martin.
  22. How accurate are FG prospect lists versus MLB pipeline or BA?
  23. I hope we can eventually hit on one of these guys. If we sign Almeyda, would he be the highest ranked international signing? The Shim pitcher would be an unbelievable signing. I would assume it would eat up most of our allotment and every other team wants him.
  24. My bad - I half read your post and only saw “we have not seen the best of Hall”. It seems we had the same thoughts after completely reading. Sorry
  25. I have a different opinion of DL Hall, if a club values him enough (paired with another young player) to give us an upside pitcher like Seattle’s Kirby or Cincinnati’s Lolodo - I won’t hesitate. He’s 24 years old, has never gone 100 innings, history of injury and control issues. We need to stop falling in love with our players and look at them objectively.
