Catch Orioles College Draftees in the Super Regional Tournament this Weekend

Recommended Posts

If you're interested in seeing some of the college kids drafted by the Orioles over the past three days, several of them will be featured in the Super Regional tournament this weekend. It's a shame the draft doesn't take place the weekend before regionals, as TCU and some other of the 64 schools featured a ton of recent draftees. Still, several names to watch can be found on the rosters of the remaining 16 teams.

Jason Esposito was a force in the regional tournament, going 7 for 14 with a double and a homer to lead Vandy to the next round. You can catch him in the super-regionals starting Friday against Oregon St.

You can catch CF Johnny Ruettiger (8th) play for Arizona St. against Texas in a series also beginning on Friday.

(Philip) Tyler Wilson (10th) should take the mound at some point this weekend for Virginia. The righty held East Carolina to one run on 7 hits, striking out 7 and walking 1 for UVA in their regional championship victory.

Though he's struggled offensively, Adam Matthews (23rd) might see some time for South Carolina against Connecticut.

The College World Series is a ton of fun, so you should tune in even if not to see the newly drated birds!

Excellent, thanks. If you have the time to compile their numbers for those of us who miss it, it would be great info to look at starting off the week.

Good post. Just to clarify, Ruettiger actually plays for Arizona St. (also in Super Regionals).

Orioles 9th round draft pick Devin Jones gave up 2 ER in 2 IP allowing 3 H and 2 BB in College World Series Super Regional action against Florida

Starter Evan Mitchell pretty much gave up the game by allowing 7 runs in the first two innings. MSU called on Jones to eat some innings in relief, but he coughed up another two runs in 2 IP. It should be noted that Florida is an excellent offensive team.
