While pitching for the Twins, Boswell led the American League in winning percentage in 1966 (.706), and he won 20 games 3 years later in 1969.

He also pitched in the World Series in 1965 for the A.L. Champion Twins.

He finished his career with the A.L. Champion Orioles in 1971 after being release by the Tigers earlier that season.

Thats sad news. He was a pitching coach for a few guys I know, and worked out of the Grand Slam USA batting cage place that used to be right next to the Beltway Liquor and Wine store off Loch Raven. The owner of that place was my high school baseball coach and so I got to have some conversations and meetings with Boswell. I was never a pitcher, but I learned a forkball from my Dad, and Boswell got me to tinker with it in some new ways.

Have to say its not completely a shock, dude was a chain smoker to the highest degree.

If I'm not mistaken, Boswell also played an umpire in one of the Major League movies.

RIP, Boswell.
