Are you referring to the Tampa Bay off day? It's because of the Republic National Convention.

That's the one I noticed. But, seriously? Lousy excuse in my book. The convention was scheduled to start Monday (now on Tuesday due to the weather). It's not like Tampa is such a bustling city (in this economy) that all the hotel rooms are sold out, even with the convention. Not dissing Tampa, just that any city should be able to do both.

I've read an awful lot of complaints from journalists about the terrible motels they've been forced to stay in for the convention, so I think you're wrong about this.
