I think the Orioles should have been on this, particularly with SJ going down and Garcia having a bad start. Just my take.

Probably should've included a link, OP. Here: http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/story/?id=424941

Hasn't Wang been pretty bad for a quite some time?

EDIT: I looked it up and, yep, he's been awful. He hasn't pitched for more than 100 innings in a season since 2007. Last season with the Nats (i.e. the National League--not the AL East), he had a 6.68 ERA and a WHIP of 2.010.

How could we have missed out on that?!

Well, put it this way. His opt out date on June 1st passed and had zero offers of a job with any ML team. He wasn't interested in another MiL deal with any other teams so he stayed with Yankees. His next eligible opt out date was to have been June 30th but he asked for and received his release today. Apparently, NY didn't see anything worth holding onto. It was pretty clear they had no plans to call him up.

Toronto has a "decent" offense but they also have the worst pitching in the AL East and the worst in the AL except for Houston so they are looking for anything that might help them. Maybe he'll click up there.

So, they spend ~$30M in offseason acquisitions of Dickey, Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle and they're signing Chien-Ming Wang in the begninning of June?

I think some would argue the value of having a Dickey with slower moving balls.

Of course, for Wang, it's very important that his balls drop. Being a sinkerballer and all.
