How About Giving Dan Some Time Before Questioning His Offseason Plan?

Tonight DD has to make a decision on Matusz. I'm fine with not overpaying for Cruz or Markakis. But then I don't see how you can pay Hunter and Matusz what they're projected to get. And to a lesser extent Norris. I'd like to see Matusz non tendered.

When the O's signed O'Day for 4.25m in 2015 they paved the way to give Tommy Hunter 4.4m. Dan must not have found any one better than Matusz for 2.7m. Its one thing to want to upgrade. Its another to find a cheaper replacement.

I think Dan will trade him. I don't think the market went down on lefty specialists evidently.

We should apparently be more like the Dodgers. Look at all the big ticket free agents they have signed this off-season. What? They have not signed any? They are actually trying to get rid of some albatross contracts and get younger? Hmmm.

When will people understand (ok a few people) that having overpriced players does not translate to winning?

We don't have a Pederson, Puig, or Vn Slyke to replace Markakis or Cruz with. And who's asking for the Orioles to be the Dodgers? The Cardinals and Giants supplemented homegrown talent with some pricey moves too. Guess that formula doesn't work either.

If theres a better and cheaper option out there then Matusz, why would a team trade for Matusz?

Maybe there isn't. I mean, with any track record. Matusz - math makes him look better. And if Miller is worth 40 million, Matusz is worth 2.7. The Swallows would pay that.
