If Markakis walks, would you trade for Gattis and BJ Upton?

I read an interesting article on the Braves attempt to trade Gattis AND unload B.J. Upton to the Astros for Dexter Fowler and a minor league pitching prospect.

It got me thinking. I know Upton is trash and waaaay overpaid, but together they make ~14.5 million next year.

So, my question is this. Assuming Markakis leaves, would you trade for Gattis (under control for four more years) if it meant taking BJ Upton and his entire salary? It would probably mean we would have to offer a similar package that the Astros declined to do (Maybe DeAza and Tyler Wilson?).

It's worth noting that the end result would probably mean a payroll decrease as Gattis+Upton (~14.5) is going to cost you less than Markakis and DeAza (~17?).

We'd probably still need another OF because I'm not convinced that Upton is anything more than a 4th OF, but I think I'd do this deal.

Gattis I wouldn't peg as anything higher than a 2.5 WAR player next year. Upton I wouldn't peg any better than - .5 WAR player. So I'd look at is as getting 2 WAR that I'm paying 15 million for + the value of the prospect. So for me, the contract would be in the hole and I'd say no thanks.

I see no reason why anyone would do this. Upton is one of the worst contracts in baseball if you ask me. He is a worthless player.
