There is absolutely no defending him anymore.

 

He is in the last year of his contract so it's a sunk cost, outright him and see if anyone is dumb enough to take him off of our hands.

 

Bring in a AAAA guy or maybe take a shot in the dark on a AA guy catching lightning in a bottle but 3+ years of unreliable garbage from Jiminez is enough.

 

Also save the "5-2 in his starts" crap because we all know he's had little to nothing to do with that.

At this point I'd be fine with releasing Ubaldo and having Asher take his spot in the rotation.  Hoping Ubaldo goes on a run is more likely fool's gold then not.  It's the last year of his contract, it's time to cut ties IMO.

Even if he does poorly in his next 4-5 starts (something I think the O's are willing to do), they'll try to turn him into a long reliever before just flat-out releasing him.

My worry here is that we really might need Asher in the pen. He has looked solid as a SP, though.

I agree, they probably will do that, sigh.  I've just had enough of him.  Nice guy and all but he's a trainwreck.

I understand where you are coming from.  There's always a pro and con side to everything.  IMO though, the SP of Asher outweighs the long man role he is currently doing.
