Jeff Conine, who served as a special assistant to former team president David Samson, said that he turned down an offer from new ownership to remain with the organization in what would have been a sharply diminished role, as well as a significant cut in pay.

So let me get this straight: Jeff Conine was a Special Assistant to the Team President who “was often in uniform for batting practice ‘to help (players) be better big leaguers,’” and at the same time gave advice on the trades and free agent signings?    How dysfunctional!    How unprecedented!   :rolleyes:
