Think Sisco makes that 1-2-5?

We don't know what we don't know. We do know that Caleb made it. And for the day, earned his keep as an Oriole.

There are known knowns. Like the entirety of Caleb's career WAR coming from a season where his pitch framing was determined to be stellar.

I also wonder if Sisco makes the good feed to Givens for that play at the plate. I'm gonna say "probably not". We should not be too quick to dismiss Caleb as the starting catcher. IMO we may lose both of those games if Sisco is behind the plate. But there's obviously no way to know.

Might have scored a lot more runs.   Sisco  should be starting most games.   Getting a double play there would have been good enough.   It getting a hit in the top of the inning would have given three run lead.

How many hits does Caleb have since OD?  He needs to be like Fernando Lunar outnthere to justify that bat.

When the O's acquired Lunar as part of the Surhoff deal his most recent performances were:

31 games in the AA Southern League with a .167/.227/.196 line.
22 games with the Braves where he hit .185/.267/.204
105 games the prior year in AA with a .224/.275/.300 line.
91 games in high A ball two years prior with a .220/.266/.283 line.

Caleb Joseph looks like Ty Cobb in comparison.  Syd Thrift should have been institutionalized.

Yeah, but the Orioles got Trinidad Hubbard and Luis Rivera in addition to Lunar. That was a haul!*

  • 2 weeks later...

(vs. INDIANS, 4/21)

Sisco threw out 3 base-runners trying to steal this afternoon.

I don't know if he would have made that 1-2-5 double play against the Yankees 2 weeks ago. He likely would have gone to first base for the more conventional bases-loaded double play that starts at home plate.
