I would be shocked if Norby and Stowers both go this deadline

I was referring to this deadline and also the offseason, heading into the 2025 season.

He's getting a 3 year deal from someone and will be offered a QO.

OK, that’s fine, I’m not gonna die. I just remember  when Matt Wieters accepted, and buck shared the most hollow “Yay” ever heard.

I did not think he should’ve gotten one, but I’m certainly not going to argue about Santa, he’s a fine player, and if he were to accept, that’d be fine

I would be fine with that. If we have all of Santander, O'Hearn, Mountcastle, and Hays coming back next year we can always trade one (possibly even Santander).

I think we are seeing right now how difficult it is to trade guys, so your confidence is perhaps not well-founded.

Are you assuming we are actively trying to trade guys off the MLB roster right now? I would say your opinion is perhaps not well founded

He might be attractive to the Giants too. They are always looking for offense.

Just to be clear, you think that Santa will be offered a QO and will turn it down, correct? You don’t think there’s any risk that he would accept and you think he definitely will get one. I understand that correctly?

If so, that’s fine, and I won’t be at all surprised if he does get one. I guess I wouldn’t be surprised if he declined it as well.

We shall see

I don’t know what Elias is thinking. We’ve speculated that he’d trade off some combination of Urias, Hays, Mateo, etc for more than a year. It hard to find playing time for guys unless you are clearing the replacement level vets.

I think we are actively trying to trade guys, and we are actively not succeeding.

I have no idea who we are trying to trade, but I would imagine that some of the guys on the active roster are being shopped.

if a team is interested in Mountcastle by golly, Mike’s gonna listen to what they have to say.

I think he will and decline …. I think someone will pay him $12-$15 per season on a 3 to 4 year deal. Probably a higher revenue team where that money really doesn’t matter.

I disagree. Elias might trade someone off the MLB roster if someone were to make an offer he can't refuse. I think we are in the market for pitching, ideally using prospects outside our top four. I don't expect anything until closer to the deadline. The fact nothing has happened does not mean it's a difficult market.

Heard … I really don’t think Elias wants to deal Norby.

You could very well be correct. I do think Norby is our best real trade piece- meaning outside of the top 4 who arent going anywhere and still having value- and he is mostly blocked right now unless we do trade several veterans this offseason.

Well, nothing has happened, and we don’t have  many concrete facts, so there’s a lot of speculation going on, but it makes sense that if you have a replaceable piece, that piece should be available in trade, and Mountcastle is replaceable.

I can guarantee you Elias is not trying to get rid of Mountcastle. If he was, there are tons of teams who would love a 120 OPS+ 1B for $3.5M. It is possible he would trade Mountcastle for value in return but that is completely different from what I am talking about should we get stuck with a Santander QO.

He certainly has value, I think we’re talking about two different trading periods. I think you’re talking about the off-season, I’m talking about right now, but whatever happens will happen and I just want to win the World Series so let’s hope Mike does the right things whatever those things are
