I became a Phillies fan today. Not because they are winners but they are a good team.

If the Mets had won, the Mets, Phillies, Padres, and Rockies would all have had the same record. I'm not sure how they would have handled that.

They had the tie breaker on mlb.com. The Mets would have played the Phillies tomorrow to determine NL East Champion. Then the other 3 would play a mini-tournament with the Rockies getting to call the shots as to how it played out.

But the loser of the Mets-Phillies game would already be a half game behind the Padres and Rockies, so why even a need for a mini-tournament? Might be a moot point because the Rockies may well choke this away.
