  1. Actually, it does matter to me, because that's my own sentiment regarding the plan. But of course, Elias & Co doesn't give a phat what I think when formulating his plan.
  2. Unfortunately that plan potentially weakens the outfield defense. I'm not sold that Mateo can backup Mullins or any other outfield spot. And his .607 OPS just magnifies the weakness IMO. I just can't be enthusiastic about a plan that involves Mateo as a backup CF and Kjerstad as a backup LF in front of Walltimore.
  3. That means they only carry 4 outfielders, And McKenna and one of Cowser/Kjerstad are out. Your 5 + Mountcastle + O'Hearn + Rutschman + McCann + Hays + Mullins + Santander + 1 OF = 13 position players
  4. If Urias and Mateo are still on the roster on opening day, I can't see how Mayo or Holliday make the team out of spring training.
  5. Nice easy stroke. Might have made it into the corner of the bullpen at the Yard.
  6. At the time, in the moment, we would have loved picking up Verlander at the deadline.
  7. How great would it be if EBJ developed even a little power, say up to the .425-.435 level
  8. I'm guessing that they were in some sort of throwing and exercise program that a private firm ran for them. And for someone like Snell or Montgomery, who have been in the big leagues for a while, they should have a pretty good idea where they should be and what they should be doing at this point of Spring Training.
  9. Who knows? Think they might accidentally give up on Nestor Cortes Again?
  10. Geez... everybody just pause, and take a breath. Last season the O's had no Means for the vast majority of the year. Bradish went on the DL for a stint after that comebacker. GRod totally sucked at first, got demoted before coming back and shining. DL Hall missed a significant period of time. Wells was an all star, and then he wasn't. Irvin was pretty much a turd of an acquisition. And the O's won 101 games. Breathe... just breathe...
  11. Offer a crazy 1 year contract with an option to Montgomery?
  12. I suppose I am wondering if there is any starting pitcher in the 70s that you would have rather have had on your staff than Palmer?
  13. OK ... I'll give you Walter Johnson. How about the modern era?
  14. By the way... for all you statheads out there, is there any better 10-year period by a pitcher in ML history than Jim's 1969-1978? He went 192-101 with a 2.52 ERA (139 ERA+ and 56.3 WAR), and that includes a "stinker" year of 1974 where he only posted an ERA of 3.27 over 26 starts.
  15. Thanks @Moose Milligan. How the phat was Jim Palmer only an All-Star only 6 times?
  16. Santander would have been so much better if Elias had added a MOO this offseason. But he never acquired one.
  17. Another loss yesterday to the Buckeyes. I can't see the Terps making the tournament barring some miracle in the Big10 Tournament. Next year looks bad too, with all of the graduations and another weak recruiting class (Queen ain't signing with the Terps IMO). Willard will likely be the coach next year, but if the team struggles again, and he doesn't add recruits, I'm guessing he's gone after next season.
  18. Question... who would you rather offer a contract extension... Hays or Mullins? I'd have to say Hays. I think Bradfield will eventually step into that igniter role. EDIT: I typed Mullins first, I meant I would extend Hays
  19. Is there really any motivation or urgency to extend an 751 OPS lifetime outfielder?
  20. Of course he is. He can see the young guns coming up behind him.
  21. LOVED Felix Pie. The best walk-off helmet collector in MLB history
  22. I'd like to see someone get a uniform number π
