  1. 43 mill to 77 mill, would be an 80% increase in payroll. Collectively, we may not like what limited moves are made, especially if they are in tier B/C. However, I don't think it would take much "spin" for Elias to talk about that 80% as significant and hold true to his quote above. It would be a bit hard not to be significant change considering where we started 2022,
  2. And, as a bonus, it would piss off Yankee fans.
  3. So I'm not sure the best way to answer this, but I wonder if the reason Elias focuses on LHB early is that a good LHB is truly harder to find. The numbers here are quite skewed in favor of righties, but how about the top 10 for each side? Knowing RHB are deeper position (assumption on my part based on above), I could see that part of the math when drafting.
  4. If the team decides they have arbitration raises and a ~30 mill contract budgeted I'd rather go pitching. In addition to things you and others have mentioned on what true contract cost. Verlander/Rodon and Mateo/ Henderson/ Ortiz as options Bradish/Voth/Watkins as options and Correa. While I like some of these pitchers in part 2, I would be more excited about part 1. Who knows what the budget is though. If they want to sign both Verlander and Correa, I could get excited about that too. I just don't believe they do that. And if still probably pick someone not Correa for an offensive upgrade.
  5. Last request is at least one more win to lock in a winning season. Wild and exciting season. Hopefully they can build on it and make it even better next year.
  6. If we win 3 WS and Odor is on the team, I'm sure we can all find peace. Most of us anyway....
  7. Posting this for those that don't have all the picks remembered. Some interesting info here as well.
  8. First home run on page 69. He's going to have a very nice career I believe.
  9. They have waited a day for game 1s several debuts this year. Hopefully the taxi squad move counted as day 1 and he plays tonight as you mentioned.
  10. I'm going definite with Voth. Older tweet but I was trying to determine his status going forward. 3 years of control is nice.
  11. I need a book to understand Voth. I am amazed how he has held up. Truly not expected. I had hope that some of kremer, wells, Zimmerman, bradish would do well (Akin too, but this new role has worked out better). The number of pitchers doing well definitely surprises me.
  12. So I didn't stay up for the game, but saw the final and read this thread. Turned on the TV and they were in the 8th inning of the replay so I decided to watch. Right after Odor hit the HR, Ben says something like "No one remembers that other stuff about Odor now". Clearly Ben does not visit the hangout. Haha.
  13. So I won't put in a vote for best, but will for definitely not the worst. I lived about a decade in Philly and more than once while fighting for a playoff spot, they'd have a bad inning or something and fans would do the damn Eagles chant. I mean at least cheer for the team you came to see.
  14. He says "front of rotation" not TOP. I wonder if that's his way of saying 2-3 not a #1. Idk, but I didn't read as tor, but it could mean nothing.
  15. Better than our previous "field a DH/1B at every position" approach.
  16. Focus was in the right place after having near zero there after trading Manny. Nice feeling like someone good should be manning the position for a while.
  17. I wasn't for the shift, but camden may have changed my mind.
  18. Mateo was my pick, but I see Henderson as an option. I picture Henderson getting his first shot at 3rd and if it goes well, they leave it alone at 2024 season start.
  19. https://www.mlb.com/news/kyle-stowers-orioles-prospect-joins-taxi-squad Players joining clubs in Canada are not required to be added to the 40-man roster if not already on it, and they do not have to clear waivers in order to be sent back to the Minors.
  20. I'm happy Trey gets to go to a winning team and a shot at a ring. Overall tough, as he has easily been a great player to watch as a fan. Hoping health and progress for the guys we get in return. I get the upside, but it certainly isn't fun today. Also would love to see Diaz step up and perform. I get the feeling more is in there and motivation is inconsistent. Time will tell but maybe getting some time triggers a spark. Maybe.
  21. Where my head was at and would make some sense. I do find it interesting they wouldn't have this number locked down since it was the first of day 2. As others mentioned, maybe he also prefers being a hitter and that factored into a change of heart.
  22. I wonder if this means no McLean. His pick would give a comp pick if he is not signed right? (I've seen through 3rd round, but many articles are older and I know the CBA is a bit different now)
