  1. That’s all he should be. But apparently they think he had something left. Anyway, good. I’m glad they saved us from ourselves (if you buy the idea that we were interested in him, which I don’t really think so but wouldn’t be surprised).
  2. Blind squirrels can find a nut every so often.
  3. We win! Taking a series against the Cardinals is a good test.
  4. Mancini can't play the field at all anymore.
  5. Gotta wonder what the Padres see in him.
  6. I don't know why Bautista was messing around with the breaking stuff. Fastballs up in the zone and a strikeout. Yepez gave it a little ride but they escaped. Man, an extra run or two here would be huge.
  7. Arenado is a hall of famer right? I didn't realize he's lead the NL in homers 3 times. Nice out, for sure. He could have done way more damage there.
  8. Need a ground ball here. Ugh, it's Arenado.
  9. Bemboom with the boom-boom. Oh man, that's a dinger for Carlson.
  10. Lol, regular season games in the UK. Who gives a $#%%. "Hey, let's copy the NFL and what they do 10 years after they do it and act like it's something new and cool."
  11. Pitch counts prevent Tommy John, everybody.
  12. I figured a site like the OH would be considered social media. But then I'm assuming the DoD saw that it was about the Orioles and figured there wasn't a threat to anyone.
  13. Safe bet. I mean, what else does this team do besides disappoint? IIRC, I said early June. I didn't want to be correct about that but whatever.
  14. Thanks for the heads up. Orioles tomorrow afternoon, too. I don't know how much work will be getting done with two games on at once.
  15. I think this is one of those cases where both statements can be true.
  16. Fair enough. I don't believe it's a death sentence for a pitcher but I do believe most hitters would prefer to look for a fastball with less movement than more. Of course being able to spot it is the most important thing. In other words, it's one more thing (albeit a slight one) that's not working for him.
  17. Good call. Forgot about the eye issues. It seems so obvious to get ballplayers vision checked. Carlos Rogers was a mediocre cornerback for the Redskins, he dropped several interceptions including one in a playoff game against the Seahawks that should have been a pick six. He goes to the 49ers, the first thing they do is get his vision checked and find out that he needs glasses/goggles. Fixes the interception issue, leads the league next year in picks. If i ever own/manage a sports team, getting all the players through an eye exam is on the list of things to do.
  18. The Mora thing was up there, though.
  19. Why do you think fastball movement isn't a big deal?
  20. IMO, I think Richie Martin gets some attention and love on here because he was a former first round pick by an organization who knows what they're doing. And then we got him in the Rule 5 draft so it's like people want to cling to the idea that he might be able to turn himself into something. Getting a player for next to nothing when another organization (especially a smart one like the A's) casts them off and having that player turn into something is, like, the OH collective wet dream. That, and he's an athletic looking dude. 6 feet, 190, looks like he should be able to be fast and agile, probably cover a lot of ground in the infield. I think those are the reasons people are still willing to give him a chance, as silly as they are. IMO, he's nothing more than a backup infielder. But I don't really understand the reasons for thinking that he can develop into more than what he's shown to be.
  21. I mean, I get it if they think the tools are legit and the college BA isn't something to really worry about. But I can't help but think it's a bit of a warning sign. I think it would be odd to expect someone to be a good to great hitter in the pros if he hasn't been elite in college. Adley's college line: .353/.473/.559 Andrew Vaughn: .374/.495/.688 Nick Madrigal: .361/.422/.502 Alex Bregman: .337/.409/.514 Kris Bryant: .353/.487/.702 Michael Conforto: .340/.462/.557 George Springer: .343/.450/.608 Kyle Schwarber: .334/.432/.619 Anthony Rendon: .327/.520/.523 Trea Turner: .342/.435/.507 Dansby Swanson: .330/.418/.541 Kjerstad: .343/.421/.590 Granted, all of these guys went significantly higher in the first round then Westburg did, but there appears to be a bit of a delta between these guys and Westburg's .285/.385/.446 line. But Elias' strategy of taking as many middle infielders from big conference schools is a sound one, overall, IMO. Maybe he pans out, maybe he doesn't but I'm not getting my hopes up.
