  1. I’d like to keep them both. Ortiz everyday 2B and Westburg 3B/ss/2b/1b/lf/rf/DH. Essentially replace Vavra with Westburg, Frazier with Ortiz.
  2. I think they will make one, or maybe 2, “small” trades for SP. Likely no one on our radar. I can’t see them getting a rental, at least with what the FO has show us so far. They still have Irvin & Rom to cover innings later in the year. Means should be back by end of August. Means, Grod, Bradish could very well be the playoff rotation. But I think they supplement the SP workload for the remainder of the seasons with some AAA guys and an outside SP acquired in a trade. Don’t see us trading for a #1 or #2. June & July performances from Grod & Bradish are huge

  4. We got him in the Cashner trade, one of the first DSL lottery tickets
  5. I'm becoming a fan of the 'pitch challenge' in AAA (don't think I've seen it anywhere else). Curious if that will be the case next year in MLB. It makes for some fun. I've been a big fan of all the new rules. Anything to make the game more exciting and move quicker is going to be good.
  6. missed this when I scanned through the thread. Same Thoughts exactly.
  7. Dang. Thought this thread was gonna be about the Angelos’.
  8. The guy is unreal. He was the same way in the minors with org filler pitchers and teammates. The intangibles are too many to list. He is an additional coach out there on the field with his team. He makes everyone believe they can have success and win. He’s a joy to watch.
  9. 2007 Erik Bedard. Rotation could use a lefty and his 10.9 k/9 and 7.0 h/9 would play. Imagine those #s with the wall.
  10. I saw it on HBO when it first came out. I liked it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Corner
  11. Not quite yet. I think they make the move after the trade deadline and, depending on who is left, move the performing prospects in the system up one step for for the second half & cut bait with some org filler. With a winner on the field it’s going to be some slow seasoning on the farm for a little while. Will be interesting to see how this phase plays out.
  12. Willems, Basallo, Povich, Prieto, could make their way onto the list by end of season if they all keep up the pace. Wagner/Beavers/Fabian as well if they start to pick up the pace and take off.
  13. Been going down a rabbit hole tying to find info on splitters. I was actually talking about more traditional pitches FB, Cruve, Slider, Change. My gut would say the splitter would be more stressful just from the sensation you get when you separate your fingers, but I'm not sure. I'm going to continue trying to find info on splitter usage, it seems to be all over the place. Here is some info on pitch type and stress on ucl. There are a lot of moving parts with age, mechanics, fatigue, etc. but the underlying correlations come with max effort and increase in velocity of all pitches year-over-year at the major league level specifically. Major League Baseball pitch velocity and pitch type associated with risk of ulnar collateral ligament injury - PubMed (nih.gov) Fastballs vs. Offspeed Pitches - Comparative and Relative Elbow Stress - Driveline Baseball Pitch Characteristics Before Ulnar Collateral Ligament Reconstruction in Major League Pitchers Compared With Age-Matched Controls - PMC (nih.gov)
  14. Dang. Hope he comes back 100%.
  15. Max effort anything is the most stressful pitch. When he’s pushing 100%+ that’s when he’s stressing his arm the most, doesn’t really matter the pitch type.
  16. They got a lot more than just the return. In addition to getting an “old” reliever (who is younger than the reliever traded and under contract for longer) they got some salary relief, opened up an opportunity for Bautista (who outperformed Lopez down the stretch last year), and bolstered their minor league starting pitching stable significantly.
