As a one inning guy out of the pen he could theoretically make the team with a solid spring. Not a lot of craft needed to pitch the sixth inning and if he's already on the forty...
I'd pick Pop over Wells in a heartbeat.
If he isn't recovered from TJ you either stash him on the DL or you send him back. If he's recovered he shouldn't hurt you out of the pen and could easily become a weapon there.
If you have a ML pitching coach and a director of pitching and now you have one guy doing both then you eliminated an employee. Does anyone think Holt is getting two paychecks and two sets of benefits?
Or it's properly valued in the market and folks are thinking it's undervalued because they haven't properly taken into account the changes in the game.
