  1. Are you suggesting driveline is responsible?
  2. Most of us learned that one when Davis was on the team.

  4. But how many of them, if they don't do this sort of thing, will have long pitching careers? If you don't throw hard, if you don't spin the ball, can you get enough outs to be a viable ML pitcher? Hitters just do too much damage to be allowed to square up the ball. You pretty much have to strike guys out in today's game.
  5. I'm also pretty sure that scoring runs is a key. What did Earl say? Pitching Defense Three run homers.
  6. But it does mean that he doesn't overly value defense. The idea that you have to play plus defense isn't accurate. Which is what I'm arguing against. Every manager would rather have plus defenders out there.
  7. Statcast supports that idea but it's still early.
  8. The example holds. Sometimes the math indicates the increase in offensive potential is worth the hit to defense. Teams don't just consider defense. Run prevention is only part of the game. The idea that "you can lose more games with the glove than you can win with the bat" is just wrong. Lots of bat first guys had productive careers. Every player is not going to be good at everything, decisions have to be made.
  9. Try and convince the Tides of that. You can give up 10 runs and lose, you can't win if you don't score.
  10. R/Baseball is pretty decent. From what I've seen the individual team subreddits are pretty trash.
  11. I'm sure Gunnar could, but at what success rate?
  12. If they have been doing this for three to four years shouldn't they be better at it? At some point you need to decide if Mayo is actually a third baseman. Folks gave Dan grief for keeping Mountcastle at Short for too long. All the stuff you are talking about is great if the player can do it. But I question how good it is when you have a bunch of guys that had questions on defense when they were drafted and those questions are still present years later.
  13. But shouldn't that be happening before AAA?
  14. So if Elias cares about defense so much how come the defense is so poor? Are they all supposed to suddenly jump from below average to good in the next few weeks? Other than Jackson all these guys have had questions about their defense since draft day right?
  15. Wells had a quality start.
  16. I can't tell from gameday if the opposing pitcher is scared or just incapable of throwing a strike. Toussaint has pitched in the majors.
  17. I don't think they meant to load the bases for the guy that hit a 3 run bomb earlier in the inning.
  18. Another HBP. Heston up with the bases juiced.
  19. Starting to feel bad for the Tides starter, he's going to have to warm up again.
  20. Pitching change. Woodford 0.1 5 7 7 3 0 2 13.50
