  1. Salary caps are good for owners, salary floors are good for players. Hard to say if either are good for fans.
  2. And they traded for Lillard because they know if Giannis gets unhappy he'll demand a trade, despite being under contract. If that happens it will be to a select handful of teams Giannis approves up, which won't include the Wizards.
  3. You think the Wizards have the same chance to win as the Lakers, Celtics or Heat? Do you follow the NBA?
  4. Quality of play improves over time. You put Ruth in the box against Ohtani and he strikes out. You put Ruth on the mound against Ohtani and it's batting practice. If your view is the best today is the best ever, Ohtani has it. Is anyone saying Wilt Chamberlain is the greatest of all time? He played in the '60's! Obviously if you are adjusting for era and all that it changes things, but if your chosen criteria doesn't account for that...it's a valid take. If you could drop anyone onto the 2023 Orioles are you saying you'd take 1923 Ruth?
  5. I'd much rather all the owners just pocket their profits instead of spending it on players. How dare a few go and make the rest look bad like that!
  6. Well sure, Yamamoto, I meant my theoretical could have been obtainable preference.
  7. We've got a thread that is 2150 pages. We ain't seeing this get to 33k replies.
  8. I was referring to the pitcher's salary.
  9. There is value in a guy that can be a reliable rotation member at a reasonable price. Even rebuilding teams need them.
  10. I've used ephedra, nasty stuff. The main issue is you can't trust the manufacturing, any given bottle might have a much lower or higher dose than what is listed. It's been banned in the US since 2004.
  11. That's OK. I'm not even advocating for the trade, just saying it can make sense. I don't think he will put up 12 wins. Eight? Well he put up 8.6 rWAR and 8.1 fWAR over the last two seasons so I think eight is in reach.
  12. That wasn't my scenario you know...
  13. We can play at what "very likely" means but I'll just say I'd rather have a pitcher that put up a 6 win season in my playoff rotation than Kremer.
  14. I strongly disagree, if you get 12 wins out of Cease you are very likely going to the playoffs both years with pretty decent odds of doing well once you get there. That is the goal right? Sometimes I'm not so sure everyone here thinks so.
  15. I'm not saying I do either, just that would be the rational. If the O's looked at Cease and thought they could get him back to that level.
  16. If you think Cease will rebound it makes more sense. That would be a significant upgrade.
  17. So, you don't like watching him play. Cosmetic. You are of course entitled to that opinion but I don't think it is a problem with Mountcastle.
  18. Because the established market value of a product is clearly an 100% overpay.
  19. Someone has probably looked into this already but does a guy that is hot/cold/hot/cold produce less value than someone who has a consistent level of performance? If not than your issue with Mountcastle is cosmetic.
  20. Huh? Frobby said something has a 100% certainty, I disagreed. Cease potentially getting injured has nothing to do with that. As for non injury issues? You could even see a freak issue like what happened with Rick Ankiel pop up. Is it likely? Of course not, could it happen? Sure. So no 100% certainty.
