  1. Only the first error was with Grayson in the game. Obviously though the fielding didn't help. That said, I can sort of understand the Orioles wanting him to get through 6 before calling him up, and he does seem to have struggled more in that inning. It would be nice if they let him get more towards 100 pitches.
  2. They left him in, but his night is now over after 5 1/3, and 87 pitches. First batter reached on an error, second walked, third hit into a force-out popup (very weird), runners on first and second are his responsibility
  3. Gunnar doing Gunnar things, hits his second home run of the night (he's also made an error, but given it's only his fourth of the year )
  4. DeLeon is one I’m interested in (ish) he has a 373 obp and 400 slg in May. Still not great, but might be improving/adjusting
  5. Orioles plan: 1992 pricing through Weds, announce Adley Thursday. Screw over fans who were waiting for his debut to buy tickets
  6. Definitely didn't buy tickets, was waiting till the announcement
  7. Odor sometimes botches the routine play, but he has a lot of range
  8. Apparently pitched well today 3.0 P with 6k 3BB and no hits. I wonder if they're trying to build him up to 5 innings or so
  9. Was referring to Super 2, and they'd have to delay him for a while longer to insure that
  10. If they bring him up this homestand, then it’s not about the extra year of control. I wonder if they’re waiting for a weekend to try to juice ticket sales
  11. He was removed from tonight’s game for Ortiz. Any idea why?
  12. I was referring to short season A. I agree on both of your latter points, I’d like to see *something* name not important, between the short season rookie leagues and full season A ball, and it won’t happen.
  13. Maybe, but a lot of major leaguers spent time at low A. I just wonder how taking away that level will impact how we see prospects once we've had a few years of data
  14. My guess is that he actually does work out/hit the gym. But that, for him, he really needs a nutritionist and diet change if he's going to change his body. At 18, most people, even pro-athletes, haven't committed to a strict nutrition diet. Look at Guerrero Jr
  15. Adley has clearly proven he can hit at the Triple A level. However, he's going to be under a microscope as soon as he comes up. I could see the Orioles preferring to wait until he's consistently making good contact at the plate, and is feeling good. Today for instance he's hit a lot of ground balls, he's clearly not swinging his best.
  16. Out of curiosity I went and looked at a few HS position players from the first few rounds of the 2020 draft. It's a little bit of a hard comparison because the season didn't start until May 4 of last year. That said a number of players didn't debut until later in the summer. I wonder if we're seeing the impact of the loss of short season A baseball. Making for a much larger leap, especially for players coming out of high school.
  17. Chandler , can’t keep my bubba’s straight
  18. I will say that at least he’s at a full season club. Many other players from that draft, including big bonus money guys like bubba starling, are still in extended spring.
  19. The top rated prospects from that draft look meh. Veen and Meyer weren't rated among by the top 5 by most outlets. They were with Heston in the next tier down. My argument is that going underslot, rather then taking the consensus "bpa" at the time, was clearly a better strategy for the 2020 draft. You can very fairly debate which underslot guy they should have chosen, but that's no longer a discussion of the strategy itself. Some drafts, you clearly have a guy (or two) who you should take as bpa ie in 2019 the pick was clearly Adley or Witt Jr, in other years the difference between your options is much smaller, and saving money in order to get other players later might be the better strategy.
  20. I almost wonder if he needs glasses, but you’d think an eye exam would be a standard part of the yearly report to camp physical
  21. Now you’re changing your argument and no longer arguing for “bpa” though. And I do find it plausible that the Orioles had Heston rated higher then Veen. It’s also hard to rate Heston as a prospect as he hasn’t played. Coming into the draft he was certainly in the same tier as Veen and Meyer
  22. Even in hindsight the top of the 2020 draft looks blah (after Tork). Heston obviously hasn’t played due to health issues, but given the play of the other “bpa” under slot and getting someone like Mayo seems like the right decision.
  23. fWAR, but yeah it flipped with Mancini's HR last night
  24. Fun fact, Mckenna has a higher war this season then Mancini (& several other orioles players)
