  1. I'd suggest your own YouTube channel. Your points will come through so much more clearly in a video rather than a website. Remember, common sense isn't that common. Don't minimize what you could contribute to society.
  2. Thanks for the detail in your post. Very helpful information. Do you have a feeling, one way or the other, about whether these 2 things, Sig's system and the O's development style, are things that are reviewed year to year to adjust and correct or are they things where the organization is set in stone and convinced this is THE way?
  3. If Elias gives out candy on Halloween, Nelson will blame him for worldwide diabetes.
  4. As OP did with Rogers, you might be giving too much credit.
  5. You and I often disagree but I've gotta agree with you here. Just joking.
  6. Nice article. Thanks for posting.
  7. They may hold him for Wednesday per Melewski
  8. Bullpen had 6 shutout innings with 13 K's.
  9. I was just about to ask Sports Guy. I see all the speculation about a sale but is there anything concrete anywhere, of any kind, indicating a post mortem sale? If estate taxes were actually an issue, why wouldn't the brothers just sell minority interests and keep the majority?
  10. That's a shame. It'd be more interesting if you did.
  11. Based on something specific you know or based on a general feeling?
  12. Were there any names attached to "these type of players"?
  13. I agree with all of that but not knowing what was offered, there's no way to know whether any reasonable deal was in place. Even with the low standard you're suggesting. I saw stuff a year ago suggesting they believed Scott had more ceiling to reach. Seems reasonable to value him that way although this year would have to be considered a set back. And Scott went on the IL within days (or a week maybe) of the deadline. They may have known that was on the way and could have been a factor that nullified a deal knowing he wasn't fully healthy at that point.
  14. I agree and Elias pretty well said as much. He said they had discussions but none progressed far enough to cross the finish line. So many posts on here saying "don't just give them away". I'm glad Elias held firm on his valuations.

    DL Hall 2021

I watched him quite a bit at aTm. I'm surprised he's having this much trouble.

Lacy has 41 walks in 52 IP in A+ right now too.
  17. Here's how the 2017 Astros World Series roster was built. I think this shows how much roster change we can expect going forward. Wildcard points out what Houston did during the 2014 offseason leading to the 2015 season and, by my count, of the players who ultimately were on the 2017 postseason roster, Houston had 11 players in the organization before those 2014 offseason changes, acquired 3 during this time frame and 11 after. Only 6 of 25 were originally drafted by Houston. Of the 12 players Wildcard outlined as added for the 2015 season, 8 (Tucker, Rasmus, Hernandez, Neshek, Valbuena, Kazmir and Gomez) were gone or not on the postseason roster (Fiers) in 2017. Draft (6) (1 of 6 after this time frame) 2015 draft year Alex Bregman 1-2 2012 draft year Carlos Correa 1-1 2014 draft year Derek Fisher CBA 2009 draft year Dallas Keuchel 7th round 2012 draft year Lance McCullers Supplemental 1st round 2011 draft year George Springer 1-11 Trades (9) (1 acquired during this time frame and 4 after) August 2012 Chris Devenski January 2015 Evan Gattis December 2015 Ken Giles December 2011 Marwin Gonzalez July 2017 Francisco Liriano November 2016 Brian McCann July 2012 Joe Musgrove February 2013 Brad Peacock August 2017 Justin Verlander Free Agent signings (5) (1 during this time frame and 4 after) December 2016 Juan Centeno December 2016 (1/$16M) Carlos Beltran December 2014 (3/$18.5M) Luke Gregerson November 2016 (2/$14M) Charlie Morton November 2016 (4/$52M) Josh Reddick International Free Agency (2) (1 of 2 after) March 2007 Jose Altuve July 2016 Yuli Gurriel Waivers (3) (1 during and 1 after this time frame) November 2014 Will Harris August 2017 Cameron Maybin December 2013 Collin McHugh
  18. It doesn't IMO. To me, the only thing you look at is whether the offer is more than what you value Means at.
  19. I think you're right. And they may feel that second half Matt Harvey IS a slightly higher level Matt Harvey. But I hope we bring in 2 more guys to supplement.
  20. I agree. So adding a starter could mean 1) bring in a reliable guy knowing that is expensive or 2) bring in a slightly higher level Matt Harvey knowing the uncertain results or 3) look for a Tampa hybrid type guy to pitch 2-3-4 innings rather than a traditional starter type. IMO, it's too early to see the O's spend big on a starter. And I don't think they'll spend big on a closer. But I hope they sign 3 guys capable of pitching 3 innings per outing. What do you think happens this offseason?
  21. I don't disagree with much of what you're saying here. But let me ask you. You've listed a lot of pitchers you believe are ready and need innings to show they belong. With that being the case, do you want FA pitchers signed this winter? You mentioned a closer. Would you sign a starter? 2 starters? A bulk guy? A late inning reliever? Or would you want to leave opportunities open for the guys you listed? I understand it'll wind up being some of both but what say you about signing FA pitchers this winter?
