  1. Before the comments ME made on the Texas trip, I didn't believe Henderson would be called up this year. But I'm more than a little shocked at the definite public statements. That leads me to believe there's a good chance he is called up this year solely to help in his development and recognizing he's going to be up very early next year, if not opening day. But I don't think the decision would be based on chasing a wild card this year.
  2. I probably worded that wrong but I feel like this organization will always have a good defensive catcher who is experienced and works well with the pitching staff as a backup and not have much regard for their offensive output.
  3. I think anyone who doesn't fit the offensive approach now being taught will be gone within 2 years unless it's a backup catcher who is a good mentor.

  5. Elias doesn't strike me as the guy who will chase the popular names with big money contracts. IMO, he's going to chase a higher class of Jordan Lyles, Spenser Watkins, Austin Voth, Tyler Wells....guys they believe in based on numbers and analytics they don't share with the public. I think the board here will be underwhelmed during the winter, just like they were with Jordan Lyles. But Elias has things he believes in. We'll see. I really like the approach. I hope it works. And my unconfirmed conspiracy is that Elias took Phillips66 believing he had Mullins traded to the Marlins for a big time starter and it fell thru at the last minute.
  6. Feels like a fork in the road to me. Unlikely to go well, but likely to come to an end, one way or the other. I'm good with that.
  7. Yes and the thought of spending a year at LSU with a stacked roster likely to go to the College World Series isn't a bad idea for a college aged kid.
  8. 26 IP, 8 hits, 40 K's. Way too many walks but maybe the O's can fix something. Thanks for posting.
  9. You linked an article about Jackson Holliday, who's Uncle is the Head Coach at Oklahoma State. You presented this as if you're the first person on earth who discovered that the #1 pick in the draft is committed to Oklahoma State to play for his Uncle. And you did all that in a thread about Nolan McLean, who plays at Oklahoma State. Do you think the O's are going to offer Jackson Holliday $800,000? Or do you mean Nolan McLean might want to go to Okla State, even though he's been playing there for years?
  10. So you think he'll say no to $8M? Do you think maybe the front office discussed that with the family before picking him?
  11. Whether it was a change or splitter, it looked useful. I'm gonna trust the algorithms and information they have available, particularly with Beavers, Wagner and McLean.
  12. Gave up 92 hits in 81 IP with 92 K's and .281 average against. They see something they think they can unlock.
  13. Or he's still negotiating with others but that should have wrapped up a little bit ago I'd think.
  14. I don't always agree with you and I understand how Boras can rub some folks the wrong way but there's zero doubt he's the best in the business, and by a long shot.
