  1. I was just about to say, Kjerstad for Miller is an interesting discussion.
  2. Bro I literally said Bleacher Report is useless in this very thread like an hour ago lol. That trade wouldn't happen, but I would absolutely do it. Everyone should. No question. Why do you constantly pick out parts of posts just to create arguments all the time?
  3. Ok... well all the more reason to add Miller to the club.
  4. I'd absolutely do Norby Beavers and S Johnson for Miller. Even if he eventually gets hurt, chances are we are getting at least 4 elite+ bullpen years out of him. Pairing him with Felix for the next three years really gives us a unique advantage at the end of games.
  5. You can do yourself a favor and literally never read a single Bleacher Report article.
  6. As much as we want to trade for a pitcher with multiple years of control, we may have to figure that out this winter. It might mean we'd need to actually spend money (which we have no idea if this ownership is committed to), but the options available for trade this month may not match the combo of: what we'd be willing to give up, and what we want.
  7. Damn we measuring players by bacon now?
  8. You're right that they bought the team and traded their best player (even if in hindsight it looked like the right move frugal or not). I don't know much of the Marlins ownership. I suppose it can happen, I'd like to believe this new Orioles ownership is NOT that. If the new Orioles ownership plans to do what the crappy Marlins ownership has done, this is all moot anyway. If they aren't going to spend any money, talking about what contract we are comfortable giving Gunnar is a dead argument from the start.
  9. Stanton's contract was already in place when the team was bought. That wasn't their contract. And honestly, it looks pretty smart in hindsight to get rid of it. Stanton at age 27 even with that monster year isn't a direct comparable to Gunnar at age 22 who plays (GG caliber) SS.
  10. Yea that's definitely what I meant. This forum has some really fun people on it.
  11. I would have to imagine that if our new ownership is willing to spend 300+ million on Gunnar, they are probably going to be OK to extend our other core players. Maybe not Burnes, but that's another topic. There will be decisions to be made no doubt. But is anyone really arguing that our #1 priority with our payroll is anything but extending Gunnar? The other side of the argument could really only be that if it hamstrings our payroll so much we should trade him in a few years. I just find it hard to believe in this day and age any new ownership group of a sports franchise would come in and immediately want to be frugal and plan to get rid of their best player in the not so distant future. Why TF even bother buying a sports franchise to do that?
  12. It's not my money. If the new ownership is comfortable with it, why not? I'd prefer something a bit more traditional though.
  13. I would sign Gunnar to literally any extension he'd agree to. We aren't going to be upset about paying 40-50 million a decade from now when we get his age 26-30+ seasons.
  14. If it wasn't for the awkwardness with Hays (who isn't going to be traded) I'd be all about adding Taylor Ward as our 3rd/4th OF who can play good defense and crush lefties from the RH. I don't think the Orioles will rock the boat this season though. Maybe trade him in the offseason?
  15. Maybe he'd do one of those sexy new deals where it's like 3/120 with a bunch of player options after that.
  16. Alex Bregman had a similar start to his career at age 22. 2-38 with zero XBH.
  17. How much would we really need to give up to get Estevez and Scherzer? Both straight rentals.
  18. If the Yankees finish in first and Judge has more HR, that will be enough for some of the ancient voters that shouldn't still be voting.
  19. We are going to need a starter for next year, so I wouldn't mind double dipping with a rental (Scherzer) AND a controllable guy too. Right now Dean Kremer would be our #2 starter and Cole Irvin our #3 for 2025. Let that sink in folks.
  20. "Papa John's is excited to announce Austin Hays will take over for Gunnar Henderson with the 50% off home run promotion"
  21. I think pitching experience is a key here. The guys the Rangers had last year weren't exactly world beaters (Montgomery, Perez, Eovaldi, Heaney, and Scherzer came back late). At best #2 or #3 starters. But they all had experience and can keep their team in games, especially the way they were hitting obviously. Once you get past Burnes nobody in our rotation has been a starter for particularly long or has playoff experience. As we've seen recently, there's a big difference between gutting a game out to say limit to 4 runs over 4 innings compared to completely unraveling like Irvin did. We may not be able to find an ace out there to trade for, but please get a mid rotation guy who's been around the block.
  22. Irvin is one of those pitchers that will tease you just long enough to break your heart.
  23. Yea except the NL is so bad they are only 3 games out of the wild card race.
  24. The tide may be turning quickly but I've mostly seen Witt picked over Gunnar. By the end of the year maybe that's not even a discussion anymore.
  25. O'Hearn will definitely be back, and if Tony takes the QO so be it.
