Thome is embarrassing himself.

Ha. Reverse jinx? He's still got a good eye at the plate, but it seems to me that he's become something of a guess hitter these days.

SSS qualification, but still:

Or, you can shut your pie hole and not tell the rest of how we should feel. The game thread is for being a fan. The ups and the downs. It's supposed to be fun and that means people can pretty much say and do as they feel. Don't sit on your damn high horse and tell people how they are supposed to feel.

Whatever.

I am kinda with him. Thome has looked pretty bad. He looks so bad when he strikes out, it is unreal. He does walk and hit a homerun every once in a while, that's good. But compared to a few years ago, he is lucky to be in the majors.

Thome looks like a guy at the tail end of a great career. A flash here and there, but he's long past a guy teams fear. The sad part is we don't have anyone better to bat third.

We're probably looking at a guy who might end up with and OPS of around 800 with a good OBP instead of 950 OPS. He looks fine. He's had very high K rates the past 3 years. He's freaking 41 years old. Decent chance he ends up as one of our best hitters by the end of the year imo.

Are you gonna say Jones embarrassed himself. How bout crediting this kid with a pretty good assortment of pitches and being able to command them from the out set unlike our guy?

Of course that doesn't mean if he throws mistakes we shouldn't hit em.

Noticed straight fastballs in the heart of the plate on the first pitches to both Jones and Betemit. Considering how good his change-up and curve are, I'd be swinging on those rather than taking them for called strikes. (I think that's what Markakis did his first AB--he hit it hard, but grounded out.)

Whatever.

You are honestly like one of my kids when they were about 12. They all thought they knew it all, but in the end, they just ended up acting childish.

People who sit on their high horse during game threads are much more of a plague then anyone just being a fan and expressing the ups and downs of the game.
