Talking about the Silva signing on XM MLB, the thinking is this makes it more likely the M's will push for Bedard. They wanted 2 pitchers, a back of the rotation guy like Kuroda and a top end guy. Silva is one piece of the plan. If not Bedard they need to go after Santana.

Does adding Silva make Morrow more expendable? They have less rotation spots to fill, so he won't be counted on to fill a spot this season?

I think it makes Clement more available. They need as much pitching as possible so they can use Morrow next season, but Clement doesn't figure in their immediate plans.

Yes you're right.... but it wasn't part of a bigger "direction", I don't think. I'm pretty sure MacPhail has made his intentions quite clear to PGA.

We need a big hitter for the cleanup spot, I say trade for John Daly.

Except for the fact he makes Milledge look like a real stable fellow, it might work. And, I doubt the PGA will mind (probably would love to get rid of him).
