Didn't see this posted anywhere. This seems pretty shocking, as I didn't hear his name connected at all with the job (maybe I wasn't paying enough attention)?

This is potentially a good hire - he already has a relationship with the GM, most of the players that he had issues with are gone, and he has more talent on the roster than he did during his first stint.

Good choice. The Jays were also thinking about Riggleman which surprised me considering how he bailed on the Nationals over a contract dispute in the middle of the season.

I can remember more than a few times when Gibbons made questionable decisions against the O's. Glad to see him managing again!
