MLB.tv - Best time to buy?

I'm looking to finally go ahead and buy a full year of MLB.tv after doing month-to-month last year or finding some loop hole to watch games for free. The only thing is I feel like buying MLB.tv is like buying a used car. You could buy it today for $130 only to have it discounted to $50 tomorrow. I feel like they run promotions often.

When is the best time to purchase a subscription for 2013? Are the Spring Training games on MLB.tv too?

I doubt you'll see it being offered for $50. I have the Premium version which come with a free At Bat 13 app so I can watch games on my Smart Phone or tablet. My subscription automatically renews at $119 because I have been a long time subscriber and I guess long time subscribers are "grandfathered". You might see the price drop as the season goes past the half way point but that's about it.

MLB.TV will broadcast 150 ST games with no blackouts. Here is the link:

The specials you have seen tend to be them dropping the price by the month as the season goes on. So you get 80% of the season for ~80% of the price.

Exactly. The only real "deal" you can get is if you're a returning customer they knock about 10% off.

Order as soon as it becomes available. BUT CHECK THE BLACKOUTS FIRST!!! I see you live in Michigan which may mean Tigers games are blacked out for you INCLUDING TIGERS VS ORIOLE GAMES! Know what you're getting into before you purchase.

If you think you won't have much time in the spring but plan on watching most of your baseball later on in the season, then maybe you should wait. My friend is a teacher so he waits for the price to come down in June/July before purchasing so he gets a reduced price for when he actually has time to watch. But if you plan to watch in March and April, there's no reason to wait for a better deal.

Thanks guys! I'll just buy now. I wanted to make sure I didn't buy now and then a week before ST see some "BASEBALL IS ALMOST HERE! SUBSCRIBE FOR 25% OFF" offer.

Just found out this year MLB.TV is including a feature of RADIO overlay with video feed!!! This means I can listen to Joe and Fred in sync with video if I'm tired of Jim Hunter and Rick Dempsey!

It works. You are just delayed a bit on the live feed.

I waited and bought mlb.tv premium over father's day weekend last year. They ran a special for $49.95. That gives you more than 60% of the season for less than 40% of the full season price.

Assuming they run this special again, it's easily the best deal if you don't mind missing the early part of the season.

Not as an integrated feature. You could always mute the video feed and queue up the radio broadcast which lagged a little behind. I hope the integrated feature works.

The MLB.tv app on my Panasonic TV had this feature last year and it worked brilliantly. Perfectly in sync with each other. I believe you could listen to just Stadium Sounds too.

I used the feature last year. As Biff Tannen stated, it synced perfectly. The only issue was the delay.

Yes, radio overlay was a feature last year on MLB premium. It is awesome. I found that sometimes there were bandwidth issues doing this, so it would freeze up and then come back with the regular TV sound. So I'd have to reset it to have the radio overlay again. But other than these hiccups (which were probably related to my house's Wifi not being fast enough) it was great.
