Hammel was getting clobbered in the game thread in those first two innings, and the genius manager wannabes were trashing Buck for even using him. But Hammel kept us in it, and got stronger as he went along. I was kind of surprised Buck yanked him after five innings and 77 pitches.

He's on the list of players who are automatically at fault and nothing they do is good enough.

Hammel one more inning and K-Rod pitching more than a third could have made a difference, esp. for today's game. Fortunately, Stinson, Hunter, and MacFarland really put in stellar performances. Bullpen was heroic.

He also erased the inherited runner with 2 outs and a runner on 2nd base when he entered the game in the 7th inning.

A healthy Jason Hammel is clearly of value to this team. It seemed like his performance today was what we saw a lot of in 2012. He can be an effective starter or bullpen man when healthy, and I would like to see him back next year if possible.
