What's funny is they don't wanna give Cruz 14m at the age of 39 but will give Hunter 10m at 40.

If Cruz has 3 good years, then this makes sense. The huge risk is that Cruz goes downhill in the next year or two and you're stuck with his contract at 14m for more than one year. Hunter at 1 year and 10m has so much less risk and is a DD type of move.

1) Nobody has given anyone anything yet.

2) 1/10 is far less risk than 4/60

3) Nelson Cruz hopes he's the hitter at 39 that Hunter is.

4) Over the last five years Hunter and Cruz are about even offensively

Fingers crossed that the Rangers succeed.

Here Here

I will second that sentiment.

As some on here know I am not a big Lough fan but I would just as soon let Pearce and Lough platoon than sign a a guy who I think is a defensive liability and whose bat will likely continue to fade.

My guess is that DD had interest if Hunter came on the cheap with the added benefit of pushing Nick to make a decision. If the Rangers make a real push he will let them have him.

So we are going to be platooning our LF and RF'ers?

C'mon... we are better than that.

As stated I don't want Hunter....but he's been pretty consistent .280-.300 hitter the past 3 years with 16-17 homers and 80ish RBIs. He really hasn't had continuing decline. My concern is the drop off the cliff that could happen

Having Miguel Cabrera hit behind you will do that.
