PressBox: A tribute to Melvin Mora

To Melvin Mora: a very good player on a lot of very, very bad Orioles teams. He'll become the first member of the O's Hall of Fame who was never involved with a winning Orioles team. And his induction is well deserved.

Very nice write up Paul!

I love the quote he gave Roch about still loving this town and the team.

Really all around classy guy!

Through age 28 he was worth less than one win and had only appeared in 198 major league games. From 29-on he was worth 26 wins, or more than Frankie Frisch, Gil Hodges, Frank Howard, Goose Goslin, Tim Raines, Lou Brock, Ernie Banks, Robin Yount, Mickey Cochrane, Kirby Puckett, Dick Allen, Andre Dawson, Jim Rice, Hank Greenberg, Richie Ashburn, Ron Santo, Vlad, and many others. He had one of the more unexpected careers I've ever seen, and is probably the inspiration for every 28-year-old utility guy. Much like every struggling crafty lefty thinks "if Jamie Moyer... why not me?".
