No matter the situation, I love beating the Yankees

Not me. I would rather have the Oriole taken the L to have a better shot at getting a top 10 protected draft pick. Remember when the Orioles swept the Yankees at the end of the 2000 season? A fat lot of good it did, because the Yankees went on to win the World Series, while the Orioles lost out on a shot to draft Mark Teixeira.

It is incomprehensible to me that there is such a thing as an Oriole fan that doesn't like beating the Yankees 2 out of 3 games in the Bronx.

It is counterintuitive for me to ever root against the Orioles, and ESPECIALLY to root against the Orioles when they are playing the Yankees.

I honestly don't have a feeling one way or the other regarding the Yankees this year. To me there's about 1,000 more compelling reasons to dislike the Jays than the Yankees, and it's been that way for about 3 years now.

Assuming the Yankees and Jays reach the playoffs, and play each other, I'm absolutely rooting for the Yankees.

If I may ask, how are old are you? Only a young Oriole fan could say this.

Even though tonight's win was something of a gift, I still find myself thinking we should have swept this series! I'm still basking in the glow of this victory, though.

I really enjoyed watching Sabathia hurling F-bombs (I counted four) when Girardi pulled him from the game with two out in the fifth, one out short of qualifying for the win.

Uh-oh. Jinx advisory. I know where to look if they beat up on the Jays.

Relax, this one is jinx free. Beltran and A-Roid are on their last legs in 2016. Teixeira is out. Pitching is suspect. They have been mightily overachieving for the past month or so.

Last time the Orioles played spoiler, it energized the team and fans enough to go to the ALDS the following year.

You are probably the only one. I agree with Frobby. While I don't particularly like any of the Blue Jays players, the fans deserve a playoff series win. For the opposite reason the Yankees can be a losing team for decades and I won't care.

That being said i'd like to see the Cubs, Angels (I like Trout), Pirates, or Astros win it all the most.

I know there are many flavors of fandom, many ways to appreciate baseball. But if you're disappointed by the Orioles winning a series against the Yanks you're doing it wrong.

That was one of the most satisfying wins the O's have had against the yanks in a long time. Consider what's at stake, the fact James Hoye decides to make his "mark" on the game striking Davis out on a 3-2 pitch way outside the zone with Chapman pitching in the 8th. Then Betances doesn't throw one strike against Castillo yet the count is 3-2.

This is the same ump whose zone was the size of a can of altoids and all of a sudden the zone is the size of a 18 wheeler's tire.

Thank you bullpen and O's offense. Manny another clutch walk off home run, what else can be said. Nice walk by Beckham to set it up.

To you Mr. Hoye, hope that check with the yanks logo bounces.

Wish I could've stayed awake to the end.    I was fighting sleep all through the 6th and 7th innings before turning off the TV at about 12:10 or so.    It was nice to wake up to the news that we won, but it would've been more fun to watch Manny's walk-off live.

Sometimes you gotta pay to play! Haha. For some reason, I kept watching thing there was going to be some kind o dramatic win. Just glad I didn't wake up the whole house. Now they need to take 2 or 3 tonight.

    • I honestly think there is very little difference in most the teams that made the playoffs.  The most wins was 98 wins and there was 12 teams with 86 wins or more.  It also seems that many of the teams are on the same page with scouting and analytics now hitting wise.  Years back you had moneyball which the A’s used before anyone else.  Then the Astros and few teams started with analytics and seemed to be ahead of the rest of the league but they have caught up now imo.  Now the move seems to be on launch angle and hitting homers by getting the ball in the air but that seems to be across the league.  Obviously some teams have more money and more talented players but the strategy seems about the same.  The main differences I see is in pitching in the playoffs which is bullpen games and using openers rather then a starter to go 7 innings and carry your team to win now a slight sign of trouble they are taking them out.  With all these short inning guys and pitching them in certain pockets we are seeing very little offense and the hitting with runners in scoring position has been awful.  It all comes down to RISP at bats and getting 1 or 2 big base hits in those situations.  We just haven’t been able to get those hits so far in short series.
    • And we've seen similar with Kjerstad. Kjerstad might be the best pure hitting prospect in the Orioles system of recent years besides Gunnar. I want to see him playing everyday next year is possible none of this sitting him versus LHP more often than not. These prospects need to get their reps and stop treating them like John Lowenstein and Benny Ayala.
    • I don’t see Elias trading off prospects anymore at least top guys.  We have moved a few guys in last year and I expect they try to build that back up.  They should have money to use if they want to add talent.
    • Blah, well Rob Manfred has to be happy along with Fox network. A Yankees-Mets World Series match up is still on the table and the Dodgers as well if they win tomorrow. I knew the Royals would get jettisoned by the Yankees without too much of a fight.
    • For Mountcastle …Maybe Chase Petty and Tristan Smith?
    • I’m guessing they ask for Mayo or Basallo of Kjerstad. For me …I’d give them Kjerstad since he’s defensively challenged IMO. Maybe Kjerstad, McDermott, Beavers, and O’Ferrall?
    • 192 wins in two seasons is a pretty strong argument to stay the course.  That said, I wonder if the young players wouldn't be better off long-term if the scientific matchups took a back seat to the raw talent a little more than we've seen.  Overthinking something can be a thing you know.
