Overall, but one would imagine that Jordan's opinions are far more valuable than mine.

Well, it is possible that Jordan has just screwed up...Its not like his is infallible.

Just judging by the descriptions of these guys, only Matusz and Hoes seem like good picks and even Hoes may have been their for us in the 4th round.

When you think that we could have had such better talent, at least in terms of where they were rated, and we passed it up for a bunch of speedy athletes with no power, it is extremely disappointing.

I said this in the other thread, but the way they described him sounded rather Ecksteiny.

His defense is way better than Eckstein. Well, his arm I should say. And he's faster.

If we hadn't made those 2-4 round picks, I'd be happy with this one. He's a solid player...and he is kind of a pest like Eckstein.

Yeah. But, they were all too tall and too slow to fit into our apparent plan to mimic the cast of Willow.:D

The top 1B were all selected before our 2nd pick. Most thought a few would slip into the mid 2nd round. A few raw 1B types are still out there now.

I'm officially disappointed... and not just with this pick. As always, let's hope it works out, but yikes. :(

Yeah, I actually like the Matusz pick because I figured after that we'd load up on power bats. Looks to me like we've picked a bunch of 4 outfielders and utility men at best.

Having said that, I've never seen any of these guys play, so I'll give Jordan the BOTD. But let's get some power in here already.

TO SAY THIS IS DISAPOINTING WOULD BE A GROSS UNDERSTATEMENT. How many of these guys do we need? This draft is a c-minus up to this point. Some of these guys have upside but it seems we're drafting 2 rounds early on some of them. This is off the cuff, and I know we could all be suprised about this group, but thats a post for another day. I wonder if this draft , a year from now, will make us say " in jordan we trust? (based on the first 12 months as pros, before someone takes my head off and says it takes (so many years before we can truly judge). sorry about the puncuation as I'm really tired.

You are almost always certain pitching will fall due to signability...Knowing that almost certainty, taking Smoak first and a pitcher second was the way to go....Melville and Smoak would have made this an excellent draft.

Miclat is a better contact hitter than Fahey and he'll get on base. I'm not going to argue that he's little and doesn't have much pop, but playing at Davenport Field will hurt anyone's power numbers, just ask Ryan Zimmerman, Mark Reynolds, Sean Doolittle, and Joe Koshansky, who all saw their power take a significant jump in pro ball.
